Jesse Sbaih is a husband, father, small business owner, and attorney who has spent his career taking on corporate special interests and fighting for ordinary families.
When Jesse was eleven, he came with his family to this country in pursuit of a better life. His parents worked hard to provide their children with a quality education as a way to reach the American dream. Jesse followed the example set by his parents. To help support his family, Jesse worked as a dishwasher when he was just twelve and then he put himself through college while working full-time.
In order to give back to this great country, Jesse is now running for U.S. Senate. He believes it's time to replace Dean Heller and stand up to Donald Trump and the corporate special interests he serves. As one of the millions of hard-working American Muslims, he’ll defend the rights of all Americans against Trump and the Republican fear machine. He’ll fight to end Trump’s war on immigrant families ensuring others have the same opportunities he had to succeed.
Many Nevadans are working longer hours just to put food on the table. The current system ensures that most new wealth flows to the top 1%. Inspired by Bernie Sanders, Jesse will take on the rigged system in Washington and on Wall Street and fight for an economy that benefits all. Jesse will fight to reform our campaign finance system and to make the ultra-rich pay their fair share in taxes. Jesse will fight for a minimum wage that can support a family, end wage discrimination, ensure equal pay for working women, and protect Social Security so Nevadans can retire with dignity.
The husband of a physician, Jesse believes that healthcare should be a right and not a privilege. He supports Medicare for all to guarantee every Nevada family the health care they need at an affordable price. He believes a woman’s health care decisions should be between her and her doctor. He will fight to protect the right to choose and provide critical women’s health services by protecting funding for Planned Parenthood.
Jesse will work towards more jobs and education for Nevadans – not more jails and incarceration. He’ll fight to stop the school-to-prison pipeline, end racial profiling, and reform our broken criminal justice system. Jesse will fight to invest in students and make public colleges and universities tuition-free for all Americans.
Jesse believes that climate change and the environmental crisis is a social problem not a political issue. He will stand up to the big polluters and oil companies that dictate Donald Trump’s energy policies. He’ll fight to protect Yucca mountain and our air, land, and water. Jesse will battle climate change by supporting a transition to clean, renewable energy sources like wind and solar. This will lead to good paying sustainable jobs for the workers of Nevada.
