In 1970, when I was 19, a friend of mine turned me on to the music of Mimi and Richard Farina - Richard was a dulcimer wizard. I bought a cheap but beautiful-sounding dulcimer in NYC at Manny's, a music store now long gone,.and learned traditional tunings and strumming by playing those Mimi and Richard Farina albums until they wore out.
In the course of a long career as a geologist, I kept playing and experimenting with alternate tunings and finger-picking styles. I went electric by the late 70's, and have more effects pedals than I know what to do with.
My sound has been described as ethereal; I don't really like the label - it's just free-form expression, sometimes rhythmic, sometimes raucous. I'm never sure what's going to happen.
