Awesome local outdoor store, but lots more than just a gear shop! Great place for unique gifts, fantastic map section, home goods section. I could spend all day in this place!

This store has everything. One of my favorite stores in Fort Collins. The shoe selection is incredible and the Fly Shop is fully stocked

I've gone into Jax many times for fishing gear and the staff have been less the helpful almost every time. I'll ask about something and I'll get a literal shrug of the shoulders and told to come check again in a few weeks. I asked one of the staff members if they had shaky head jigs and he said he had never heard of that before.(Very common finesse style fishing jig) He was easily twice my age. They aren't friendly and don't have any advice that could potentially help you. More times than not you can find them standing in a circle talking. I'm so glad SCHEELS opened in Johnstown because the Jax Fishing department deserves no one's business.

As an avid hunter, Jax has been a nice local store to find what we need from guns to powder to clothing. The last few years, however, this has not been the case. They have always had a small women's hunting clothing department and now they really don't carry anything at all. I found ONE small rack of hunting clothing, and it was poor quality with too high of a price. We searched for pants for our nephew and could not find anything in his size (tall enough to wear regular men's clothing). All in all, I will not be shopping here any longer. I guess they do not want to sell to hunters anymore.

When I first walked in I thought I had found my favorite new store that I would spend a lot of time in and way too much money at. By the time I left I knew I wouldn't ever being going back.

I was in Cheyenne earlier in the day and bought an item and by the time I got back to FoCo I thought that I should've picked up another one for my wife (not wanting to be a selfish husband). I asked if they would price match a store in Cheyenne - I was told yes. I went to the register to check out, they called someone and I was told no, they only match FoCo stores, not Cheyenne.

(Edit) I have to say that I was impressed. I received a call from the owner the next morning saying what happened shouldn't have and that they'd like an opportunity to win my/our business back. You just don't see that often in today's world. I will definitely be going back - at least once more.

I was on vacation in Colorado with my parents and was in need of good hiking boots. Where I live, it is a 2 hr drive to the nearest REI. So it's not easy to get to good outdoor stores. We went to Jax to look for boots not knowing much about the place. I found and tried on boots myself for awhile before we decided to head to REI. Then one staff member, Diana, asked if she could help and so she spent the next 30 to 45 minutes helping me try on boots and try different inserts before we finally found the right combination. I am very picky when it comes to footwear so I am very grateful for Diana's help and patience in finding the right boots. I also just enjoyed looking around a bit at all of the camping accessories and what not. I only wish there was a Jax closer to where I live

Went in for the first time last week with some friends that wanted to show us around. Right away we we're greeted by a smiling face and a "Hi, how are you guys". With 3 of us being prior military we were in hog heaven. 5 minutes in to looking around another gentleman came by and asked if he could help us find anything in particular. We explained we were just looking and even swapped a few jokes with the employee. Everything is well organized and easy to find. The store layout is not cluttered like most surplus stores and it was easy to locate employees. We didn't buy anything that day but we're so impressed, we are planning a trip down tomorrow with our children to pick up some hiking gear.

Customer service was great. Clerks very personable. Managment a little snooty. Otherwise a five-star experience. Tons and tons of very desirable merchandise. Mostly top-of-the-line goods.

A great experience in the archery department today . As always the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable . It's nice to do business with local people who care and have the same passions.

Great staff and selection. This would be 5 stars if they had a better return policy. Everytime I have tried to make a return it has been a very difficult experience even when I have proof of receipt.

Very, very disappointed with my treatment at Jax. They've lost my service forever due to one employee. If I would have caught his name, I would have reported him to the BBB IMMEDIATELY.
My boyfriend and I went walking around the Fort Collins Jax, in search of hunting bows. When we entered the archery range, we tried the weight out on some of the bows to see if any would be worth investigating further. Immediately an employee came running up to us, CURSING AT US, saying "Guys, if you want to pretend that those f*cking bows are toys, you'd BETTER be behind this white line up here or else we'll throw you out."
Now, it would have been different if he'd have said, "Hey guys, for your own safety and the safety of others, could you please use those at the white line?" Or something of that sort. And it wasn't like we were playing with the bows "as toys" as he so elegantly put it. But not only to curse in front of children (a couple of boy scouts were at the range) AND threaten to throw out a willing, previously paying customer, that's messed up. It's not like Jax has any signs in that room indicating that people have to be behind the white line to try out the bows (WITHOUT the arrows). Guess I'll buy my outdoor gear at another place from now on.

I love Jax! The people here are so helpful and fun. They are great about returns too. I had an item that shrunk even though washed according to instructions and they were very happy to give me a refund.iI also love the selection in all departments-women's and men's clothes, housewares, backpacks, camping, fishing-you name it they have it!
