Sales staff was helpful and congenial, but once I needed more technical information the mechanic on duty couldn't be bothered. I'll be doing business with someone with more time to spend on customers.

Its to bad people have to be rude to you if your not there to buy something at that moment. Even though In the past I have bought a beach cruiser from Jax along with every bike lock or anything to do with a beach cruiser including a basket and new seat or inner tubes if I get a flat I buy from Jax. I lived down town hb for 20 plus years its always been my bike spot and normally I get great service. No longer though. I went on a bike ride today and my chain kept coming off due to my rear tire bolt was loose. I don't have the tools to fix it myself so I went into my local neighborhood bike store JAX like normal when I need something. I brought my bike in and waited for an employee to help me. A blonde hair guy asked me If he could help and I said yes do you mind if I borrow a wrench to tighten my bolt my chain keeps coming off because its loose. I was going to offer some money but before I could offer he made a slight laugh and said "we don't loan tools here" and walked away. WOW! he made me feel like I was some homeless person looking for a handout lol. I was willing to offer $5 i had on me to borrow a wrench for 30 seconds it would of taken to tighten the bolt. Hopefully the employee will read this and realize it better to be helpful than rude because you permanently lost a loyal customer over something as trivial as tightening a bolt. Instead of me continuing to believe Jax was go to bike store. Good Job bud

Had my bike fitted this morning, Mel presiding.... absolutely and totally pleased with her expertise and advice. Kudos, Mel !! I've had dealings with others there, can't remember names, but I have nothing but good to say about each and every one I've come in contact with.... Mel? You're FB famous now !!!

We went to Jax with a bike issue that 2 other bike stores had misdiagnosed . Gary rode it and had it fixed in 10 min. He was knowledgeable and friendly. We are not going anywhere else again.

Worst customer service I have ever received in any bike shop!! I bought 2 bikes from them, but they won't back up their products, even though the bikes are only a few months old. They have a bunch of young kids running the shop!!!

Let me start by saying that I have never before left a negative review online. I went to Jax while 15 miles into a 30 mile ride. I needed to tighten my freewheel (yes, an old bike with a freewheel) which I'd just serviced a few nights ago and not tightened enough. I have the tool to do it at home, but hadn't taken it with me. I went in to Jax and asked if either I or they could tighten the freewheel. The guy looked at the bike which has quick-release wheels and said "Well, I'd have to put it on the rack and remove the wheel to get to it. I'll have to charge you." I figured that he meant a buck...maybe two. I offered to take the wheel off which would've taken all of five seconds. He still told me it'd be $10! Ten dollars for 30 seconds of his time -and that's being generous and allowing him to walk to fetch the tool. If you do the math, that's $1200 an hour. Why become a brain surgeon if a bike mechanic can charge that. I told the guy after deciding out of principle to leave, that he'd have a better chance staying open if he had good rapport with the community. I realize that he wants to run a business, but there are better ways to stay in business with today's online competition... like offering fantastic customer experience and service which online retailers can't offer.

    Good service but high prices.

My bike had a flat tire so I took it here for an estimate on repairs. The gentleman working that day was super helpful and told me what needed to be done and how much it would cost. It was more than what I paid for the bike, so I didn't go through with the repairs but I definitely liked the friendly service!
