I just went here for the first time. It had been way too long since I had a haircut, since I moved to Seattle last summer and never got around to finding a new salon. But now that I'm getting married in August I decided I needed to start caring about my hair again, so I booked an appointment at James Alan.

Amber was my stylist and she did a fantastic job. I loved that she seemed to understand my hair (wavy, fine hair, but lots of it) and didn't try and force it to be something it wasn't. She was seriously the first stylist I've ever had who didn't blow dry and straighten my hair after the cut, which I was thrilled about, since it takes about 45 minutes to dry and straighten my hair (no, seriously) and it never looks that good anyway.

The price was very reasonable too. Plus, they have a non-profit that helps girls get out of the sex trafficking industry. How many salons do you know that have their own charity? Very, very cool. I will definitely be back.

I have been going here for a year. This place is AMAZING. The ambiance and decor scream upscale salon, without the snobbish attitude. I have worked with 2 stylists and had excellent hair cuts every time. They both listened to what I wanted and asked good questions. They both talked a lot about the ongoing education the salon offers and the mentorship they receive from more experienced staff. The prices are reasonable and they aren't always trying to get you to buy more products. Oh ya they will let you return a product if it doesn't work for you.They offer massage, facials and cosmetic instruction. They are open late so you can go after work.
