We stayed at this campground last summer in a pop up camper. It is a BEAUTIFUL area. The campground is pretty large and has many sites, but there are some that are more isloated than others if that is the sort of area you're looking for. The road leading to the campground is unpaved an narrow- barely enough room for two standard vehicles, though there were a couple of large RVs there. I suspect that someone had to block outgoing traffic in order for them to make it into the camping area. We loved the scenic beauty of Grand Mesa! The only drawback was we had to apply Deepwoods Off every 2.5 hrs to keep the mosquitos at bay. 300 lakes in the area result in loads of mosquitos. There are no hook ups or showers and only vault toliets. There are areas to access potable water.

Camp host was a total dick! We were in the area, and we parked to go for a hike. There were no signs stating that you could not park there. It says fee area, but all the fees are listed. Parking is not a listed fee. I got a notice on my windshield saying I owed $6. I went to ask why and he was a total dick to me. I told him I wasn't going to pay it because there were no signs. He claimed that just having a sign that says fee area means they can charge for parking. Yet right next to it is a sign that states all of the fees for the area. Parking is not listed.
