Great community masjid, I always stop every time I'm in Tampa...the people are welcoming and there's a large parking area. Even a free clinic next to the masjid

I heard about this mosque from my French professor at The University of Tampa. I called them and also learned about their clinic that is helping many people. They are super active and I love the new improvements and remodeling.

It is 1am. Stop blasting your music. This is completely rude. This is not an effective way to make the local citizens 'like' your organization. Turn it down.

Stop playing your prayer call at 4:15am. It is disturbing the peace. It is rude. I live over a mile from your location. Why can't your followers install an application on their phone to play the prayer call at the correct time - so you don't have to blast it out of your speakers? Absolutely inconsiderate.

I attended this masjid only once on Friday. And to sum up my experience, I had an intense urge to leave within 5 minutes from the beginning of the sermon.

The sermon quality was so low that the Khateeb (preacher) was making grammatical mistakes in the opening statements. But that's the least of it. Grammatical mistakes can be overlooked if the substance or meat of the khutbah (sermon) was beneficial. Instead, the Khateeb took us through a convoluted journey through his mind in which he shared with us his understanding of some of the verses of the glorious book that is the Quran. By the time he had finished his opening explanation of those verses the listener was left with the impression that the Quran calls to anarchy, revolutions, disorderly conduct, and the breaking of the law. Yet he managed to successfully mask all that evil from any government authorities that may be listening in by directing all the vitriol towards the "tyrants" in the Muslim lands.

This is ISIS material and ideology whether ISTABA openly supports ISIS or not. And if they can't see that they are feeding their community the same ideologies that ISIS feeds their victims then this is a sad state indeed.

Islam is suffering because the likes of this preacher are allowed to ascend the pulpits in the Masajid. And to tell the truth, the pulpit is a very sacred station and place, a place where once upon a time none were allowed to climb it except for the messenger of Allah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam or those that he selected.

The Muslims need to get serious about the quality of the knowledge that is going to be disseminated through their establishments or else those very establishments will fail to meet their true purpose. These establishments were not built for the collection of money (which they do very well) nor as a platform to push the agendas of certain individuals within them (which they do very well) but rather as a means to reviving the sunnah of the prophet Muhammad salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam. And if a masjid has been in existence and operational within a community for several years and the effects of sunnah are still not seen in its community then know that this masjid is yet another failed attempt by Muslims in America.

On my way out, after hearing enough silliness I left during the sermon, and saw large numbers of people standing outside the premises (despite ample space) chatting, enjoying the sunshine, buying and selling. I couldn't help but think that there is a good reason they are not inside partaking in the great act of worship that is listening to the Friday khutbah; and then I realized as I was writing this, that they too had had enough of listening to the diatribe of ignorant individuals using the pulpits of Islam to push their personal agendas.

May Allah guide us to that which pleases him.

Edit: I was informed after writing the above that the preacher in question is a guest speaker from Atlanta. Despite this, I stand by my initial thoughts. The fact that these follies are being committed upon ISTABA's pulpit by a guest speaker does not abdicate them from the burden of these mistakes unless and until they take a clear and public stance against the ignorance that was spread from atop their platform.
