Description

Third, the Da’wa Center is not just a masjid, nor is it just a community center and a meeting place, it is a symbol, which impinges on our conscience, takes us away from the pompousness of contemporary religious commerce, and takes us back in time to the primordial, when the mind and the spirit were both bathed in the symphony of simplicity and candor. After all, some people had called it “Dar-ul-Arqam”. That was the highest compliment that anyone could pay to any Islamic place of assembly. The Da’wa Center building is not an architectural monument. It is modest by the standards of the affluent parts of the city but it stands as a stark reminder of the mission we often proclaim to have been bequeathed to us by our beloved prophet. The Da’wa Center is our conscience, the conscience with a heart beat. When it needs support, there is no stampede to come to its aid but the conscience of the conscientious works in mystical ways and the need is fulfilled. I have always been able to count on this small number of Muslims, who are not easily swayed by pomp and glamour and to whom, participating in history-making is more important than rejoicing in splendor. Beside, the Friday collection is the mainstay of our existence. This optimism sustains the Da’wa Center and will, Inshaullh, carry it to its destiny.
