  Thermal Imaging

  When you’re working with anything power related be it a battery, power supply, F.E.T or processor it’s important for performance, life and safety that any heat generation is managed effectively. At ICA/ 28 Gorilla we use Infrared thermography (IRT) or thermal imaging in our design process to produce thermograms like the ones in the diagram opposite to evaluate and manage heat within a circuit design.

  This tool allows us to not only identify heat sources but me...asure the heat generated and the effects of heat management. Be it fine tuning charging algorithms, circuit layout optimization, analyzing the effects of heat shields, ferrite shields, heat sinks or active cooling. Thermal imaging removes a lot of the guesswork and accelerates product development timelines.

  So, if you have something hot for us to work on, we’d be happy to take a look at it and see what a thermogram tells us.

  Design Tool Platforms

  There are lots of different design tool platforms in use today: Eagle, Autocad, Altium, PADS, Solidworks and Fusion being the most popular.

  Our personal favorites, from a cost and flexibility standpoint, are Eagle for Electronics and Fusion for mechanical structures. Yet here at ICA, we have the capability to work in all of them to ensure we are speaking the same language as our customers.   A little trivia for you: Bluetooth was actually named after a Viking, King Harald "Bluetooth" Gormsson who become famous for uniting the kingdoms of Denmark and Norway way back in 970AD. He had absolutely nothing to do with the technology, but Ericsson engineer Sven Mattisson did and convinced his Intel colleague it was a good idea for a name during a pub crawl in Toronto and it stuck!
