Apex is doing a wonderful job fixing up the park. More than just paint and cleaning. Rides are being properly maintained, shops are well stocked, great food selection and some awesome staff are making Indiana Beach what it should have been years ago.
We got the season pass for this year and next for $40!!! We went 4 times this summer!!! Food is great, beach is great, lodging is great!!! Some rides were down at times but the employees were quick to get them back up and running after a much needed break they deserved to have The rides were very clean and fun, we had a blast at the splash pad/water park We ate some cheese fried and mozz sticks and they were fantastic, we then tried the tacos and they were AMAZING!! We will return next summer for sure!!
I have to say I am super disappointed at the work efficiency of the staff at Indiana Beach. I booked the day pass tickets and meal vouchers for a group of 23 people just a couple of days before Labor Day, but on Labor Day, 5 of the 23 people could not make the trip. Indiana Beach could not issue a new balance (which would have been as easy math as 18 people's admission fees + 18 people's meal vouchers - $100 deposit), which was very much to our surprise, in this high-tech era. The staff at the group sales window still charged me the balance assuming that all 23 showed up. They directed me to talk to Shana (not 100% sure about the spelling of her name though) at the Customer Relations office, which I did. I was told by the group sales staff at the South entrance and reaffirmed by Shana herself that I would receive a check with the amount equal to the 5 absentees' day pass tickets and meal vouchers. It has been three weeks since my group's visit to the park, but I have not received any mail from Indiana Beach with the check they promised. I also contacted them using their online form and left them voice mails on their phone, but all to no avail. I need my refund of $170.8!
We love Indiana Beach. It is a nice little getaway that we can just got at any time for all day or just a few hours. We have season passes and live about 45 minutes away so it works for us. There are plenty of rides, nowhere near what a big amusment park has but still good. Very nice little kid section.
Some staff is rude and acts like they don't want to be there or don't know how to operate the ride correctly. One ride I was going on the employee was asleep. Was told most employees work 13 hour days but still that's my safety. Very small park over all you can ride all rides and some multiple times in a day which if your a season pass holder gets boring cause there's no thrill anymore. The new owners are upgrading and trying to make it a better place but for $40 a season it's a good place compared to the prices of other theme parks. The views with the lake is very pretty.
My family and I came to Indiana Beach Campgrounds this past weekend for Labor Day. We spent the entire weekend there except for Sunday when we went to Indiana Beach Amusement Park. The campgrounds receive 5 stars and were completely wonderful. But, the Amusement Park is completely terrible!!
When we first arrived we entered through the gates and our 4 and 1/2 year old son wanted to ride some of the kiddie rides that are right by the entrance. Half of them were broken or shut down for the day. There were only 2 or 3 that he was able to ride. That made him very disappointed right from the very start. What a way to start our day.
We then went to the water park because it closes at 6 pm and we wanted to have some fun there. Well, when we got there, we spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get a locker for our items. We go into the locker rooms and they were the dirtiest locker rooms we have ever seen!! Even our son commented on how dirty they were. We get changed anyway and start to go down to the water park. Then, we try to go on some of the water slides and realize that they are closed. Just like the kiddie rides. We decide to play in the beach lake/pool for about an hour and decide to go over to the Amusement Park side and get some lunch.
Our son wants pizza, so we go to the pizza restaurant. We wait in line for about 20 minutes and then purchase a pizza, bread sticks, and drinks for a ridiculously priced $40. No one offered to help us. We finally sit down at our table and realize that the entire restaurant is infested with flies. We move to a different table to try to get away from the flies and the other table is filthy and we have to wipe it off ourselves. Well, there are more flies by this table. There are dead bees in the window sills and it looks like the windows hadn't been cleaned in the last 6 months. They were filthy also. We start eating our pizza and it was one of the worst pizza we have ever had. Since it cost us $40 we figured it would be good. It was terrible!!!
We now go to ride some rides at the Amusement Park. We get on the tilt-a-whirl and as we are about to get off of the ride, we wait for about 5 minutes and the employee never comes over to let us out of the ride. We eventually figure out how to get out and do it ourselves. As we were leaving the tilt-a-whirl, I ask her why she just left us sitting there. Her response was "you got out didn't you?" I said sure we did but that she should have helped us. She didn't offer an apology or anything.
Now we decide that we need to use the restrooms. We find them and go inside. They were filthy as can be also. Dead bugs everywhere, cobwebs in every corner, the sinks were covered in filth and the mirrors were so dirty that you could barely see your own reflection. Luckily we didn't catch any diseases while in there. We take care of business and get out of there.
We get to the antique cars ride for kids. I ask the line employee if our son will be able to drive the car and the employee rudely points at the sign and says "44 inches to drive!!!!" He is 42 inches. She could have been much nicer!! Our son sees the bumper boats that you can have a water fight on and wants to ride that ride. There are only about 30 people in line so it should not have taken us about 45 minutes to an hour to finally get on. Well, of the 12 boats that they use, only 6 of them are working and the employee was so slow at getting people in the boats and off of the boats. We enjoyed the ride though after waiting for a long time to get on.
We ride some more rides and go to buy a couple bottles of water. $3.29 each!!
We did enjoy the 30 minute Two-Story Boat ride that is available for free. The employees there were very nice and truly cared about us.
We end our night with the fireworks show which was very good!!
We will most likely never return and will tell all of our friends to never go also!!
The park has really improved since the new owners took over. Been coming here since I was a kid and it never disappoints.
I've been coming to this place almost every year since I was a little kid. I absolutely love the nostalgic feel every time I visit, and of course, their delicious tacos. I came back a few months ago and the new owners really gave this place a good face-lift. The park has never looked better! All of the rides were running, there were tons of maintenance staff walking around and cleaning up, the park had a nice fresh paint job and they also had beautiful potted plants all over the place. I was so proud of how nice the park looked! I can't wait to return next year and eventually bring my future children and show them one of my favorite amusement parks of all time. I love this place so much and I hope they never close or go out of business!
Great time. The new owners are making a difference. Just spent another day there. Was worried that being the last day of the season it would be awful. Pleasantly surprised. Besides missing the best tacos we hit all our favorites. Water park would have been nice but I doubt anyone thought it would be upper 80s at the end of September. So excited for opening day next year!
Great place for young families! Staff is friendly and definitely working hard to make your time enjoyable.
My nieces and nephews loved the roller coasters and other rides. My brother and myself enjoyed the water park.
There is always room for improvement, and it is obvious that staff is working everyday to better the park.
Ticket prices are not bad. And it's definitely nice that you're not getting ripped off on food prices within the park.
It was a nice place to go clean, friendly, not quiet as big as I thought, and disappointed about the BEACH.. main reason I went was the beach, my girls had fun on the rides and husband in the arcade. You also have to buy a ride bracelet if you want to sit in the beach, which looked like a 20' x 30' area . The 5$ general admission can only walk around in the park and arcade area. Still entertaining for a days worth of fun. Taco shack was a really good place to eat.
