Il Palio is by far one of the best Italian places in the Fairfield/New Haven counties. Pasta here is always fresh and amazing. They always have specials that are both interesting takes on fresh/in season ingredients and as delicious as their descriptions. They have a very reasonably prices 3 course lunch pre fixe lunch menu. This review will not do it justice, but please take my word for it that every dish I've had here is complex, well thought out, and of the highest quality. This isn't just your plain red sauce modified by one ingredient typical local fare.

Nice Shelton restaurant. Like this place everytime. They have a new lunch special which includes app meal & dessert. Califlour soup was a little bland and salmon tasted like it was cooked on a burned grill. (Just a couple of comments) But the service is nice and the butternut squash butter substitute for bread was a nice touch.

My wife and I recently enjoyed dinner at Il Palio. We had heard good things about it and wanted to give it a try. Although it was a 40 minute ride from our home, it was worth the trip! The location is near an office building complex and although not in a typical retail location, it was convenient to Rt. 8 and easy to find with navigation. Our first impression of the restaurant was that it was a large place with nicely lit trees and landscaping. There is plenty of parking available (we went on a Friday night), a large sculpture out front, and huge, over-sized glass doors welcoming you into a contemporary Italian restaurant. The lighting fixtures were modern, there were large vaulted ceilings with floor to length curtains separating the different parts of the restaurant. We had a reservation and were warmly greeted and seated in a large dining area with vaulted ceilings, warm lighting, a cozy fireplace, and comfortable chair or couch seating. And then the service began! It was extremely attentive and exceptional. Just the right mix of being there on time and knowing when to leave you alone. We ordered a nice Tuscan red wine and listened as our waiter explained the specials for the night. They had some wonderful specials that night and we both ordered the Red Snapper special as our main meal. My wife enjoyed a fresh rainbow beet salad as an appetizer and I was able to get a smaller plate version of that day's shrimp & pasta special as an appetizer. The shrimp dish had plenty of shrimp, mushrooms, fettucine and a delicious shrimp bisque sauce that added just the right flavor to the combination. One of the things we dislike when eating out is that sometimes it's as if some restaurants try to rush you through the meal by bringing out your entree when you haven't even completed your appetizer. The team at Il Palio timed everything perfectly! Il Palio exceeded our expectations and we're happy to share it!

Went to Il Palio for lunch. Maybe I'm used to NY prices, but the menu was pretty reasonable to me. Service was good, and was not rushed.

Il Palio also seem to have a recently renovated downstairs that's reserved for events, looks very modern. We were hoping to dine there, as it looked really quite nice, but didn't know it's for event only. We were able to get a tour and may consider it for our future events.
