Went on a Saturday to look at a dog. Lots of amazing animals to choose from. It was busy so if you are going on the weekend, plan on it taking a little while! Rescue pets are worth it!!

Adopted my yorkie mixed with Jack russell from here he is 3 months old and was well treated and fed, the staff here did a amazing job from start to finish they made sure we got everything we needed and we even got to visit with him before adoption and we also got to visit with another puppy right after to make our final decision on which puppy we wanted to bring home. The staff were very helpful and gave great advice!

We found our new family member Norman. We have had him a month and our experience has been great. The adoption process took awhile but I'm pleased they go to great lengths to ensure the animals are going to a good match. The behavior person was great when I called with questions and she was spot on problem fixed. Also the staff called the next day to see how our first night with Norman went! Thank you for caring for so many animals and thank you for Norman!

Genuine care and love for each dog in this facility. Each dog was eager to be friends, with a few recovering from surgery or former lives that have been terrible. We were given so much useful information. Now to wait for payday!

We sat in the building for over an hour before we were even able to meet the kitten we picked out then even longer after to finalize everything. We were told we had to wait a week to receive our kitten so she could get fixed and checked and such. A week rolled around and no word. We called twice to be told the "She's not ready yet". Called again the next day and still "she's not ready". Still waiting on our kitten, apparently when you pay for an animal you don't ever get to bring it home.

We unfortunately did not go to the Humane Society for anything fun and exciting, we visited because we had to have our two sick senior dog's put down. The entire staff was absolutely amazing during this process. They were not only kind and gentle with my furbabies but my husband, daughter, and myself as well. As heartbreaking as the situation was, they made it a little easier knowing we were making the right decision for my furbabies.

Adopted a dog a few months ago from here. She can some sneezing and when we took her to a REAL vet, she had a sinus infection. She is now also on both Prozac and Xanax because of such terrible separation anxiety that they had no idea of.
A couple weeks ago I adopted a cat from here also. The cat is overweight, has a heart murmur, and teeth are bleeding and are so disgusting that we would have to put her under and pay over $1,000 for the full procedure to remove the bad teeth. I'm amazed a "vet" can't even look at teeth or listen to a heart of their animals. Sounds like neglect to me.
After reading reviews from here, clearly I am not the first one to have dealt with this situation. Would love to take this to court.response / report this review -

Nobody is allowed to touch any animals. It's bizarre. It's like they want to keep them all to themselves. Such a nice, expensive facility with tons of volunteers but it seems so weird that you have to look at cats through glass as they cry for companionship. This place cares more about providing an exclusive volunteer experience (social club it seems) than about finding pets homes. If there are no animals there their donations and volunteer army would dry up. Look at the Kent County shelter. Rarely more than 5-6 cats there because they let you interact with them. Not sure why this place is so anti pet/people interaction.

I have been volunteering for the Humane Society for the past three months after having adopted all four of my previous and current cats here. What an amazing place with an atmosphere of hope and love and consistent promotion of animal welfare. The staff is dedicated and informed, and everyone (including the behaviorist in residence) is ready and willing to help meet the needs of both animals and their potential human adopters.

These are some of the most loving dedicated people ever. The dogs are well taken care of while they wait for their new family. They get love, hugs and walks. We are very happy with the dog we adopted. I felt bad having to leave so many darling dogs behind. It worth checking daily to find your forever friend. Go in and see the animals. So many rush to the front of the cage hoping to be picked

I had a wonderful experience working with the Humane Society! I adopted my kitty a month ago and had a smooth process. I just took him in for a vet visit and despite his old age, he's a picture of health. Thank you!
