The Huber Heights Police Explorer Post #2057 has been in operation since May of 1979. The Explorer Post is headed by the Post Advisor, Officer Savard, and is assisted by Associate Advisors Officer Tyree and a civilian Daniel Tucker, all whom are also former Explorers.
The Explorer Post is currently staffed by twenty young people, ages 15 to 20. The Explorer Post prepares young men and women for a career in law enforcement. Explorers are instructed in police procedures, law, and hands-on experience by riding with police officers on a tour of duty. They participate in many different police and training functions throughout the year. These functions are designed to let them experience various areas of law enforcement under close supervision. These functions may include providing security, crowd and/or traffic control at public events, evidence collection, searches, and national gatherings to compare knowledge and experiences with explorers from other departments. Last, Law Enforcement Explorer posts help promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.
