Our Company History: Our founder Jack Shapiro, known to most as “Little Jack” for his small frame, came from Russia after the turn of the 19th century to better his family. He first rented a Fells Point building in about 1928 for his own newly established wholesale business where he had his first two rental units. In 1938 as his business grew in Historic Fells Point he acquired a larger location keeping the other units as rentals. Jack sold his wholesale business in 1972 while keeping a group of Fells Point buildings as rentals. In 1975, at the age of 15, Howard, now known as "Howie B", began assisting in managing these properties. This was about the time when Fells Point was now known as “Historic” Fells Point. These Fell Point properties were old and very outdated. By the mid 1980’s Howie B, with the assistance of his older brother, had fully gutted and updated all of these Fells Point properties into apartments, offices, restaurants, retail and a small parking facility. After Howie B sold his CPA firm in the early 1990’s he focused his energies on slowly growing a group of various types of rental properties. His focus, then as is today, is on providing well-maintained Baltimore rentals throughout the City into Baltimore County in various price ranges and styles. Howie B Properties offers multi-unit apartments, row homes, single-family detached homes, mixed-use properties with offices, retail, and restaurants as well as warehouse space. All of our properties are moderately priced, well-maintained and provided excellent management and maintenance services.
