Mission StatementOur main goal is to provide a loving rehabilitative educational environment for Houston area Horses and Heroes United (HH&HU). Who are the horses and heroes? The horses are the neglected, abused, displaced, and abandoned equines rescued by nonprofit organizations. Some of the heroes include our sponsors, volunteers, and staff. Many local and surrounding area rescues have an abundance of horses with limited resources to care for them. These horses are often waiting for a long time in situations where only minimal necessities can be provided. We help by offering foster care and adoption opportunities for horses in need of attention and homes. How do we do this? We have a unique donation sponsorship program for prospective adoptees and equine rescue volunteers. This program is multifaceted in the aspect that it facilitates funding for the care of the foster horses as well as unique opportunities, and education for program sponsors. The sponsors become the horse's heroes. By making a monthly donation each sponsor provides full board expense coverage for horses being fostered. This is a great way for prospective adoptees to get to know rescue horses in foster care that they might want to provide homes for in the future. Sponsorship also allows our program certified volunteers the opportunity to be part of our foster horse educational riding and training internship. This is a great way to experience being around and working with horses without the expensive cost of horse ownership. Monthly donations are available in full and partial sponsorships packages. This makes it affordable for low income and time limited individuals to participate at levels they are comfortable with. Who else do we consider heroes? Other programs we offer were created exclusively for veterans, military service members, and police officers. With our heroes participation programs we provide free horse experiences and learning opportunities for these brave individuals.
