The food was great but the service was terrible. We ordered loaded nachos and finished them by the time she brought the salsa and sour cream. Next my son sat with no pepsi and when she finally got it I had to follow her to the bar to get her to fill my lemonade. Next I asked for ketchup and after waiting for it for 10 minutes I ended up going and getting it myself. While all this was going on 2 women who were sitting by us just got up and left due to no service at all.
Our Fast Glass Corvette Club visited here after a day at the Pima Air Museum. We enjoyed ourselves here. The food was mostly good, says most of our members and the atmosphere for us "Car Guys & Gals" was pretty neat. There was plenty of room upstairs for us to all sit at one table. So I DO recommend this place for a group gathering. The staff was friendly and they were ready for us, as we had reservations. Being a Car Guy & Gal ourselves, and a restaurateur, my wife and I appreciated the effort put forth! Thank You!!!
The concept is great but the execution is terrible. Nice to look around at all the hard work put into the building from the garage where you can view the work on the cars to the decor of the place. But when it comes to food & service - terrible. The food was so dry and bland. The servers look like they hate their job, from the way they dress to the interaction. Curious how long this place is going to last.
Always a good mea.l Simple menu Burgers, sandwiches, what you might expect at a hot rod place. It's not a fast (in the evenings anyway) but all the food is fresh cooked and prepared on site. Great View of the paint and assembly shop with the guys at work if you're there during business hours for the shop itself. There's a nightclub upstairs that seems pretty busy in the evenings.
Atmosphere: perfect for anyone into automobiles and care culture! You can watch mechanics restore cars as you eat! VERY clean place including clean restroom!
Service: accurate and non-invasive. Danielle was very cheerful and professional. A natural at honest conversation!
Food: house salad was HUGE. Crispy fresh and easily served 2 and was inexpensive! Burger was DANG good! I get burgers in every city that I travel and this one is a tough competitor. Seasoned well and not greasy or heavy! Thought it was cool to have so many flavors of lemonade if you aren't into alcohol or sodas!
Overall was worth a return visit. It's a huge place and just a great spot to hang out. Amazing outdoor fully covered patio and an upstairs loft-style lounge. Plenty of room to chill and not feel overcrowded and if you want to keep going back you can always see different projects going on in the garage. Just go get a seat and a cool beverage and watch the fellas wrench!
Very slow service! Staff sitting in booths on cell phones all 3 times we've gone. Wish they'd fix these two issues, because otherwise the place is great!
Our waitress was Amazing, my wife and I a delicious dinner. And the car scene makes for a great view. Would Definitely Recommend to anyone.
"Mac and cheese burger is amazing!"
Unique concept, letting customers watch the mechanics working on the vehicles while they eat and providing a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was relatively bland and certainly not worth the premium prices they charge compared to similar locations.
They have redeemed themselves.
We have stayed away from Hotrods even though we live just down the street for the last couple of years due a pretty bad dining experience. This past Friday (12/23/16) we decided to give them another try as another restaurant was packed. We were initially concerned by the lack of cars in the lot and lack of customers in the place. This was equally concerning when we tried to sit at a couple of booths with dirty tables (hence losing a star). This was explained as they were down a busser that evening and were seating the other half of the dining room. We were eventually seated at a clean booth and scanned the menu. They have trimmed the menu down considerably. Salads, sandwiches and burgers are their mainstay.
We ordered a combo appetizer platter to start. They had no problem accommodating a mushroom allergy and substituted any of the other platter items at no up-charge. Everything on the platter was great. I personally liked the wings. The kids liked the mozzarella sticks, and my wife liked the fried zucchini.
My daughter ordered a turkey sandwich. My wife ordered a "Build Your Own" burger as did I. My son ordered their signature burger the "Mac&Cheese Burger". Everything came as ordered with the burger patties just a touch over medium, but still plenty juicy and a little red goodness dripping into the bun.
The service was great as there weren't many tables for the server to work with. This isn't surprising given the reputation they are trying to overcome. So final words: If you've given up on this place from a bad experience give them another try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the turn-around in the kitchen and in the dining room.
Oh yah, don't forget all the cool car stuff EVERYWHERE! Along with open windows into the shop floor.
Service was friendly, food came out when we expected it would and it was really good. We saw the reviews but it was recommended so we gave it a try. We had a really good experience here and would recommend it to anyone looking for something local and different!
Service is friendly, only if you are lucky enough to see them. We waited awhile to order, food is ok typical bar food. I sat with an empty glass, no server, insight It was like a bad blind date waiting to end. I would understand if they were busy. Except the ratio of empty seats out numbered the customers. Good luck Hotrods.
The bling of the building is great. It was great watching them work on the older cars. Lots of TVs with several channels going on at the same time. You won't miss the game.
They have really paired down the menu and it seems like they have gone to a back to basic menu. We have been several times and the service is kind of spotty depending on your server. Food is a little spotty as well. Sometimes it is really good, and other times it is just OK.
Considering the amount of money that went into this place you would think it was better managed. Our last visit to the patio with infants entailed a large amount of employees drinking and being very obnoxious. One frequently introduced himself as the manager. The only paying customers out there were us and all they did was punch a very loud machine while the babies tried to nap or feed. Food took almost an hour and came out cold. The build is quite impressive though, and would wow someone on their first visit. Beer selection is usually great.
