Overall a great lunch but a bit pricey. Still it is to be expected in the downtown area and with such a famous locale. Great information about the history of the hotel in different events that have occurred. Cafe also provides vegan options for those that need it. Desert was good.
I have more pictures from previous visits and a hotel stay before I moved to Tucson, but it's definitely a wonderful place to visit with many different cozy spaces in which to congregate. I did a "Taste of Tucson" tour where the history of the structure, later painting of interior and wood elements (by somewhat of an 'itinerant' painter who traveled painting these deco hotels.I wonder if he did The Landmark in Liberal, Kansas?), Tap Room, etc. were verbally illustrated within the space and made the experience now and in the future that much richer. I believe it can be "vocal" in some rooms due to location of the music, though when I stayed here I didn't notice it. The coffee shop had a nice and interesting menu, and the pennies in the floor are mesmerizing. They remind me of the 'Mixed Up Files' bathing in the fountain image of what the two kids saw (through water) when diving/bathing (for money) in the Fountains within the Metropolitan Museum of Art. All for the cost of a hamburger!
All in one awesome spot in downtown Old Pueblo. You have a cafe with full menu and bar. Lovely outside Tucson fall nights can be enjoyed in the patio. Which actually plays to a full audience during festivals and music shows. Inside you'll find the venue, which hosts a side bar and full bar for dancing and music. Most importantlyyou *HAVE* to check out Tigers bar. If you get a chance to ever meet him, just say hi.
Great location in downtown Tucson. Rooms are old fashioned, smaller than a typical hotel, but pretty awesome. The rooms are directly above a loud and active bar scene which is fantastic for those of us that like bar scenes. However, it's pretty noisy all night if you're not into that. Overall, 5 stars.
I hung out at the Cup Cafe. Marty, the bartender was knowledgeable and helpful with taking my order, finding good pairings with alcohol and food, friendly guy. The food was fast and tasty. I got the fish and chips. The beer suggested was an excellent match. Had a dessert before leaving. Lemon raspberry cheesecake! Made in house and packed with flavor! Loved the overall experience.
We had a fantastic time during our three night stay at the Congress. Perfectly located in the hub of all the social scene of downtown Tucson. We never unparked the car. The food is delishious, the staff friendly and accommodating. Loved the Bloody Mary bar Saturday and Sunday mornings. Our room was quaint, well stocked with the essentials and very clean! We came for the party! If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is not it! If you are looking to embrace life, music and fun this is a destination I would highly recommend!
I love this place. In the middle of everything. We love the food there. And in a wonderful twist of fate, right before we saw their show across the street, Jesse from Eagles of death metal hung out with us on the patio. We'll never forget this one.
My partner and i go here for breakfast every week or two. Brought our dog with us last time and they brought water for her too. My favorite item on the menu is the Trout Benedict and a Latté to drink. So good. My partner is vegan and really enjoys their tofu scramble, I'd have to say its pretty dang good too. Love Hotel Congress. Thank you for the great experience every time.
The Hotel Congress is an old historical place. Over the years they have worked to keep it looking like it did when it opened in the early 1900s. I love all of the old pictures of Old Tucson hanging on the walls throughout the hotel. I had lunch at the Cup Cafe. We had to wait about 25 minutes to get in but it was well worth it. The cafe is a small place to eat. There is a patio that is available for seating. Even though it was lunch time I decided to have breakfast, breakfast is available 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. . I ordered the trout Benedict, the trout is smoked right outside in a smoker on the premises. My meal was cooked to perfection. My fruit and vegetables were fresh and I could tell that the coffee had just been brewed. I can hardly wait to go back!
John was our waiter and he was great. We were there for breakfast and had an amazing meal. I had the brioche french toast and added blueberries, it was delicious. I enjoyed there fresh coffee and John brought lots of cream, awesome service. The atmosphere of the place was perfect and it's right downtown. I recommend parking at maynards across the street if street parking is full.
We've been to Cup Cafe at Hotel Congress several times and always enjoy it! They have a great patio for when the weather isn't too hot. It's a great place to order several appetizers to share (love the papas fritas!) and they have delicious sandwiches, too. If you're just visiting the area, be sure to add this to your itinerary!
I visited Hotel Congress for a professional conference. Dinner was served family style, which is unusual for these events, but the food seemed to be very fresh and more interesting than the standard conference fare. Service from the waitstaff was friendly and efficient. The bar serves a nice selection of lovely local wines which was a pleasant surprise. Parking is a problem. The downtown area is chaotic for anyone unused to narrow, crowded, one-way streets that are furthers clogged with construction and a random streetcar. It was horribly frustrating attempting to find my way through the downtown maze to find reasonably close parking. I would up hiking in from some distance in heels. 5 stars for the hotel. 1 for the parking situation outside the hotel.
I had breakfast at the Cafe inside the Hotel Congress. Although the menu was extensive, i went for the two egg, sausage, potato standard. The breakfast was very good, taking this standard meal to a new level. Especially the potatoes, excellent! The service was equally impressive, exceeding my expectation at every opportunity. If you are ever in downtown Tucson, don't miss out on this great experience.
031917 update: Another great experience. First impression 'high level people - experts and professionals' wanting their guest to have a great time'. The result: we had a good time. I look forward to a return trip. It only takes 1.3 hours from Phoenix. We had so much fun. This is a great historic hotel. The people and accommodations are exceptional. We came here (spent Saturday night) and we walked into this huge 'under wear party'. What were we to do ? We entered into the fun and danced and laughed till 2 am. I'm so impressed with this setting.
