I first encountered Horizons when I asked for an estimate to do our roof. The owner came out and was really pleasant to talk with and his estimate was very reasonable. We were in the midst of having our attic insulated and hadn't gotten around to doing the roof when the insulation project hit some snags. We needed our bathroom exhaust fans vented properly before the insulation could be completed. I called a few handymen type places and the estimates were outrageous and no one could get it done quickly. I called Horizons and Bill said he could get someone out to me that week and his price was very fair. A month or so later, a piece of fascia was torn off our house in a wind storm so I called around to get estimates for a repair. Again, most of the prices and timelines were just crazy. Bill--once again--got back to me right away with a more than fair proposal. I trust this guy. He's good and I think he's very honest. When we do our roof this year, he's the guy we're gonna call. In fact, he'll be the first estimate we get for every job we need done around the home.

I had a leak in my second bathroom that needed to be fixed. The leak was either the toilet or shower, but couldn't be identified without some demo. I decided to remodel the bathroom since we had to address the leak.
We got three estimates, and after comparing the bids we were concerned that none of them broke down the labor and materials, but I picked Horizon.
I signed the contract, and picked out materials and finishes.
The day the work was scheduled to start the guys were 2 hours late with no phone call.
The project was progressing until Mike reached out to me about picking out a 42" vanity, this measurement was taken during the estimate. Mike could not find a vanity this size, and in the color I picked. Mike suggested I go with a 36" vanity. I did not want to downsize, so I asked him to keep looking. Mike sent some options and included the same cabinet they had just demoed, all options would add additional costs. I agreed to the 36" vanity to avoid additional costs and repurchasing the cabinet I already had. I asked how the smaller vanity would work with the space and plumbing, in order to keep things balanced the plumbing would have to be moved which would cost extra money. I called Bill Sr. and asked why I would pay extra to move the plumbing instead of just getting the 42" vanity. Bill agreed, Mike found 3 vanities and sent them and included the overage cost for each. I reviewed my options, and noticed they were similar in cost to the 36" vanities that would not have cost extra. I shared this, and Mike apologized and said the 36" would have cost more too, but he forgot to mention the overage. Horizon should have done some research of the cost of 42" vanities and this should have been reflective in the estimate. I wanted to move forward, so I found a vanity, and sent it to Mike. I picked out the paint color, the towel bar, the toilet paper holder, and a vanity mirror. The mirror was over budget, I had no idea what the budget was because the breakdown was never provided. The allotment was $100. I requested a mirror that was framed out, and fit the space during the estimate. I looked for something within budget, and there were NO options. I emailed Mike, and he sent me the standard medicine cabinet. I let him know it wasn't framed, and I asked for this up front. Horizon agreed to pay the $79 difference, but sent an email to demand payment for $350 in upgraded tile and approximately $400 for the vanity. I had already paid the $350, and the $400 for the vanity was never shared. I had to ask my husband to step in because I was leaving for vacation, so he asked to meet Bill Sr. to discuss. Bill stated I agreed to the $400. My husband asked Bill to show him where I agreed to the charge, and he could not find anything where the $400 was mentioned or me agreeing. The meeting ended with an agreement to finish the work as planned, and we would not pay the $400.
The project is now complete, and my bathroom is beautiful. However, the water stain on my kitchen ceiling that was the entire reason for the project was given one coat of paint that did not match the rest of the ceiling. The stain has bled through, and the rest of the ceiling on my entire first floor must be painted because they did not match the paint.

The guys that came to our house to do the work were outstanding, they kept my house clean, and they were extremely professional.

My biggest concern with Horizon was their estimate process, Mike and Bill Sr.'s communication, and the repair to the kitchen ceiling.

I would not do business with Horizon again based on my first experience.
