Um, there were some serious red flags that popped up. It's subtly if not explicitly pro slavery. I felt naive not realizing that places like this still exist. Most of the tour and brochure content was about the owners' experience and the devastation of the reconstruction after the civil war. Hardly anything at all was said about the lives of the enslaved laborers or the fact that the only reason that place was viable economically was because they owned PEOPLE and subjected them to a miserable existence. Don't be fooled by the beautiful grounds. Blood was spilt there and they're doing very little to acknowledge that monstrous side of the plantation's operations.

I took my grandkids here for the Easter egg hunt this year and I think it is truly wrong for them to charge $8 per adult for the Easter egg hunt, when this is for the kids only. The whole 1 hour this egg hunt was being done, the staff kept saying "this is for kids only" ok then tell me why i just spent $18 total for this Easter egg hunt!

Beautiful old plantation. Ranger Andy who gave us a tour of the house was an amazing wealth of knowledge, not only on the property itself but every piece of furniture, how it was used, why it was there etc.. Learned a lot and the 800yr old Georgia Oak tree is a sight to see.

This is the only historic building with the original furniture. The house and grounds are well maintained. The tour guides have several good stories to tell about the family members that lived in the house over several decades.

Went for Christmas night. Was suppose to have carolers, Santa, I assumed Christmas lighting, etc. Highly promoted. There were no carolers. There were hardly any lights. No nativity. Aside from Santa and some cookies and wassil, you could not tell it was a holiday event. In addition the golf cart never showed up to take people back to the entry as was promised. There were no Christmas lights anywhere or Christmas displays. Candles on the ground to help with the path back to the entry. If it is promoted as a Christmas event, they should make it that.
