Lot's of young professionals. Grounds are clean with ample parking. Could use a better ISP. Apartments are decent size and modern. Phase II
The ABSOLUTE best apartment homes that Dothan has to offer. Unlike other complexes, the staff is very friendly and customer service is the Highland Hills team's top priority. Courteous and prompt service. Maintenance and the entire team go well above and beyond all duties and expectations. If you are in the market for the best of all worlds a home has to offer, stop by the leasing office. You'll be happy you did!
Yours,
Current resident
I had a great experience the last two years at Highland Hills. As a military officer I enjoyed the proximity to Highway 84, a straight shot to Ft. Rucker, and the proximity to restaurants, etc in Dothan.
We lived in Phase 2, the newer section, and it was quite nice. The staff is friendly, communicative, and the maintenance team responds in a timely fashion, weighing the criticality of your needs against those of the community. The apartment was relatively quiet with only loud noises/stomping/vacuuming being able to be heard between apartments. Construction is sturdy and looks great. The pool is wonderful and easy on the skin (salt water). The fitness center is basic, but adequate. The car washes are a nice touch as well as the quarterly free breakfast bags that they sometimes give out. One constructive criticism would be the dog park. One of the car washes drains into the only fenced in dog area on the properly; makes for a nasty play time for the pup. They should work out the drainage a little better as this area isn't clean or safe for dogs.
Residents are professional and friendly. The price point in this area makes sure that few non-professionals are in the community. I was pleasantly surprised. We rented this site unseen two years ago, just moved out, and would move back in again if the military ever brought me to the Ft. Rucker/Dothan area again. Keep up the great work.
I live in the older section with the entrance off of Brannon Stand Rd. The exterior of these buildings desperately needs to be exterminated of spiders and are begging for a pressure wash. My buildings stair well is inundated with spider webs, dead bugs, trash drippings and mold. My balcony is covered in mold. I reported this in my delivery of property report but nothing has been done about it. The interior of my apartment upon move in was very lived in. Who ever lived here before me was not very cleanly. I have chronic trouble with my kitchen sink leaking and the disposal is rusty and only works sometimes, after maintenance has "fixed it". It is a nice place over all. Very quite, nice amenities, above average apartment living.
I've had a great experience so far. I spoke to a few people there. They got rid of old management and I'm going to Phase 2 to check that out. They've been very helpful so far to me :)
I don't know how to change my username from "disgruntled ex-patient" but it is not because of Highland Hills apartments lol. That was for a horrible dental review; I am NOT disgruntled with this apartment complex. We moved in to Highland Hills in June 2011. After reading some of the reviews on here, I was a little skeptical about my decision but can honestly say that we do really like the apartments; however it is important to accept that apartment living is indeed exactly what it is called, "apartment living." You will have neighbors above you, below you and to your side so expect some noise. If you can't handle it or get easily upset, I suggest finding a home. Luckily these apartments have mostly couples and families, not loud college kids so the noise isn't too bad. The kitchens are beautifully done and have a lot of space for storage (again, for an apartment). The carpet is extremely durable and great for pets (we have cats). We were surprised at how inexpensive it is to live here for what you get. People always walk into our apartment and comment on how nice it is! So here it goes. PROS: storage, updated appliances, nice carpet, computer nook area, nice windows. CONS: standard blinds (not good for cats), noisey neighbors, office staff seems to be missing or unavailable for hours at a time but when you do catch them they are helpful, maintenance seems to be a little slow to get to problems. I also do not like that the pool is salt water but that's just my preference. Another downside is the dumpster, it seems to be very full often and you cannot dump boxes in it - you must go to a nearby dumpster at Walgreens or something to get rid of boxes. I do, however, like that you can hang pictures, etc. in your apartment and don't have to worry about small holes in the wall - they take care of it for you when you move out. We are only in AL for a limited amount of time but have decided if we were here longer, we would stay at Highland Hills apartments!
