Love High Country Gardens! I had a ton of questions this year and customer service answered them all. Plants came looking good, well watered and safely packed. I’ve ordered from High Country frequently and am always pleased by the healthy plants and the strength they come back with every year!
RUN big Rip off. Absolutely THE WORST plants I have ever order off the internet. Ordered from several companies and this company is a RIP OFF ! 76.00 for NOTHING
This is not a nursery, but a wholesale online retailer. If you live in Vermont and try to interact with the staff at their physical location, they have absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Buy from your local nursery!
Whoa, I can't believe the bad reviews of HCG. I have ordered probably $1,500+ in plants from them over the past several years, and have been really happy with the quality. The few plants I have received that weren't up to my standards, or that didn't survive, were all refunded or replaced. Everything has grown into big, strong, beautiful plants. I also love that everything they sell is neonicotinoid free.
The garden in the first two photos is about 2 years old and the garden in the second two photos is only a year old. At least 80% of the plants in both gardens came from HCG.
HIGH COUNTRY LIARS
These people told me lie after lie. They are salespeople - liars. They told me that their, Low Water - Dwarf Fescue, grows in clay. Nothing grows in clay except for indigenous plants, otherwise known as weeds......
They did refund the money for the seed, but not for the fertilizer, rototilling, lawnmower, $600.00 water bill for watering for six months, and six months of wasting my time, pulling weeds.
The lawn, Low Water - Dwarf Fescue, was actually half crabgrass and weeds. I spent several months pulling weeds, before it finally died. You can see from the photos I have posted, the lawn is mostly weeds.
I called several months later after this all had occurred. And, they are still lying, claiming that their Low Water - Dwarf Fescue grows in clay.
Apparently, even after being caught lying, and scamming a customer, they have not changed their corrupt ways. Do not believe anything these people say.
They wasted a lot of my time and money. Now, I have no lawn, and a whole new breed of weeds.
Just received my small order of Agastache. One plant is about 10 inches tall and relatively healthy, One about 6 inches tall dry and wilted. And two plants 3 inches tall deformed, dry, wilted with black mold of some sort,or maybe just rotted leaves.. The soil in all three just about powder they were so dry ...I'm surprise as I have shopped here in the past. These plants did not degrade during shipping. They were shipped in this condition. ONE out of FOUR plants ! NO STARS but it wouldn't let me post without adding at least on....Bill Rabatin

My order from High country gardens arrived in deplorable conditions. Most of the plants consisted of leafless sticks and 2 were obviously dead eventhough when I contacted customer service I was assured they were dormant. Three weeks later they are still dead. My order was also missing 2 plants which were no longer available for the season and for which I was sent replacement plants that also arrived in really bad shape. This company ships usps which doesn't help maintaining healthy specimens since orders take too long to arrive. I wouldn't recommend High country gardens to anyone. The catalog looks great but the plants sure are pathetic little specimen in comparison.
Have ordered from High Country Gardens in the past and have been very happy with the service and plants. This year I ordered $450 in plants that were expected to ship around 4/27. Last year when my plants were delayed due to weather, I recieved an email. This year nothing until 5/7 when I was notified my plants were shipped on Thursday and I would not receive them until Monday 5/11, and they were coming from Colorado not Santa Fe. Not happy and when I called customer service to see if this was some kind of mistake the represenatitive got so snippy and defensive that I finally just hung up. So now the question is do I baby along plants to see if they are going to make it a year or just return them right away. Planning a wedding in my yard one year from now. Want my plants to be mature and full of blooms next year.
