After 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting we never received our 3 items of food. 20 minutes after ordering I went inside to let them know we we're outside, no big deal. 40 minutes after ordering a young server brought out the food for the 3rd table to arrive after us but receive their food before us. As he passed I asked where our food was, he politely informed me that the tickets were mixed up and our food would be out shortly. 50 minutes after ordering a nice young lady inside informed me that we would receive a full refund and asked if we wanted to stay and the kitchen would start on our food or if we wanted to leave, because of the refund we stayed. 1 hour and 20 minutes after ordering our food I went back inside and they said sorry it is just being started now. 1 hour and 30 minutes after ordering 2 waiters brought the 6 top next to us their food. I asked the younger waiter where our food was and he said that they already refunded our food and what more did I want? (my food, I wanted my food) the ponytail waiter said he was sorry and that as I left I could go pick out a dessert on the house. After 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting I went inside and (ponytail helped me again) I said if our food wasn't ready like right now ish we were ready to leave. He just said sorry and said I could pick out a dessert. I declined and we left. This was my second time here and my friends first. We had a full order of sweet potato fries, a rice bowl and I believe my friend ordered a wrap. I felt like I was patient, irritated for sure but patient. The staff was apologetic but I just don't understand how this situation was so mismanaged.
Waited 45 minutes after my order. Asked about our order 3 times. They finally had to box our lunch, because we waited so long. We left, and the order was still wrong. I walked back to the place, and they corrected the order. I thought they would offer a coupon or free meal or refund or something for the complete lack of ability to get this right. Nope.
This is one of my favorite places to go to. Their pizza is amazing - the crust is light and fluffy and it makes you want to savor every bite of it. My personal favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza. Their sandwiches are also fresh with a light, crisp bite and you feel good about eating it. It's light yet filling food. I highly recommend this place to everyone!
I love Gurus. My best friend and I have come here for years.
Once a week, I come in and have the veggie breakfast. It's delicious.
Matthew always does a wonderful job and takes good care of me.
I had an extremely great experience with the management staff at Guru's. I had a quiet unusual experience and called in to talk about it. The manager was very prompt to get back with me and set up a meeting so I could come in and address my issues. He was very generous and willing to address the issue with respect. I have never had a bad meal at Guru's and this experience with the staff has made me love Guru's even more.
Always great food! If you haven’t tried their sweet potato fries, you need to. They make life complete. I have never had better ones. They also have a huge variety of food so you’re guaranteed to find something for everyone. My favorite is the southwest chipotle wrap. Amazing.
I’ve been here a couple times- I feel the quality of food and price comparison are a little steep- the food is good, but not restaurant good. It’s priced like a restaurant but ran and taste like fast food, but more quality fast good, like a kneaders or cafe zupas. I’ve had the soups, salads, sandwiches, sweet potato fries.. its good, but it’s missing something.. my personal recommendation is there are other places of equal price range that are a better meal for your buck.
Every time I come to Guru's I get something different and each meal is better than the last. Favorite so far? Baja fish tacos! Also exemplary service every time.
EDIT: dropping to three stars. The last two times I've come in, they've had my order wrong. And it's not exactly fast food where a correction is quick. Left waiting each time.
Good food for whenever you don't know what you want. Sweet potato fries are the best. Food makes you feel like you picked a healthier option. Pretty much always crowded. The take-out box gets full fast so you can't call ahead.
I feel like these recipes are incomplete. I think people cling to what they see as popular. I have tried this restaurant three times and left upset that I spent my money. I shouldn't leave feeling that way and neither should you. There are several restaurant in the area I would suggest before here. I got the impression that they thought this was inspired and it might be. But, I felt like I could have cooked something better at home. It kinda feels like they just threw things on a plate that didn't go together.
It's a really fun place with a little bit of a hipster vibe, but don't let that scare you off. The food is delicious, my personal favorite it the pesto chicken pasta. It can get really busy/full, but that's hit or miss. In the same building off to the left is their "bakery". All in one shop, dinner and a treat.
I've had many opportunities to eat at Guru's - I usually get their sweet potato fries. I've never had bad service there until one morning when a group of us walked in and they totally forgot our order. They told is the wait for our food would be 15 minutes but it was longer than an hour, and they probably only remembered us because we went up to the counter a few times to see where our orders were. The manager literally threw his hands up on the air when we told him what was going on and asked us what we thought he could do about it. Their staff was unapologetic until one server suggested that we could have our money returned and receive gift cards for the next time. When the food came out, it was haphazardly done and the sweet potatoes we ordered for five dollars was only about four small bites. The only reason I give them three stars is because they did refund us and most of my encounters with this establishment have been positive. This experience, however, almost blew it for me and my entire group who frequent Guru's quite often.
Great place!! The food was great to!! Loved the decor in the place. Would definitely recommend this place if you are in the Provo area. The staff was also very courteous and professional.
Fun atmosphere and great food. Order up front, find yourself a seat, and they bring it to you. The Sweet Potato Fries are amazing. Has delicious vegetarian options and many desert selections next door. Sometimes it can get crowded and its hard to find seating for large groups.
This place conjures up a lot of mixed emotions.
They have the option on some of their entrees to make them vegan, but their modifications are usually disappointing. For example, I would have thought that in order to make their breakfast burrito vegan (which typically has eggs, cheese, sour cream, and sausage in it) they would use the ingredients from their veggie scramble (like the seasoned tofu, veggie sausage, and other vegetables). Not so. Instead they just remove everything not vegan from the burrito. That leaves an asston of rice, a few black beans, and a little bit of unflavored tofu added. I had to douse it in hot sauce to have some sort of flavor.
While I appreciate the effort , they must not have any vegans working there otherwise I feel like they'd make more of an effort in having options.
They do, however have a pretty good vegetarian bowl for lunch.
The employees are always nice and the ambiance is enjoyable.
We absolutely love Guru's! I have a tricky family to please, and there is something for everyone. The sweet potato fries are epic and the sauce is the best I have had. My personal favorite is the lemon butter salmon, which rivals much pricier restaurants.
I have been here twice. The first time I ordered a wrap. And they forgot to bring it to my table. It was just sitting on the counter for 15-20 minutes. When I went up they servers realized, but didn't even apologize. I was not impressed as it was a simple wrap.
The second time was at a family dinner. We got chips and the 'fresh salsa'. This salsa was actually rancid. It had gone bad and was being served as 'fresh'. Again no apology from the careless servers and establishment. That was the last time I will go to Guru's and will NEVER recommend it to anyone. There are much better sweet potato fries at other restaurants in the area, along with more attentive servers.
My husband and I come here every year for a company party and I really need to start coming more often! Their food is always great and I love the atmosphere there. I've always been the person who says a salad is not enough food for me for dinner but I've changed my mind after trying their Taos Tortilla salad. It was so flavorful and filled me up. I will definitely be back again soon!
This place serves quality food, has great service and also has a reasonable selection of vegan and vegetarian options.
They also pay attention to detail. The tables are stocked with silverware, napkins and straws. The guy who brought my food noticed that I didn't have a drink and offered to get me a water.
A little pricy though. I got a Thai curry bowl and a half order of sweet potato fries, and I was out almost $18. Nevertheless, you're almost sure to have a good dining experience.
This cafe is our old favorite from when we used to live in Provo. It's the perfect local, non-chain restaurant.
I hadn't been there in years and recently when I stopped by I was wondering if it would still be good. To my surprise it was! T
he menu has basically stayed the same but I am fine with that as all the dishes are wonderful.
The mulligatawny soup is still the best I've tried ANYWHERE in the world. If you only try 1 place in Provo you must try this one.
