12/04/2017 Update:
Within 5 days after writing the original post below, GL Nissan tried to make things right by replacing the car i got with a 2018 rogue with fog lamps.
I am now a satisfied customer. This is how I should have felt on 11/13/2017. Thank you.
Original Post:
I have waited for over 10 years to own a red vehicle and this experience made me not want to drive the vehicle at all. A LOT WENT WRONG WITH THIS PURCHASE!!! Believe me, I have had this review typed for 2 weeks to see if I would still feel the same way.
Here's what went wrong:
1. I explicitly told them that my husband wanted to do the purchase as he was a recent graduate. They told me that they needed my SSN ONLY for a back-up. Next thing I get an alert that my credit was pulled and I am being shoved documents as the primary purchaser of a car. Essentially, they ran my credit without my permission. NO grad incentive was added and I was later told that it could not be added because “they were already losing a lot of money” and I was the one with the credit. This I think was a total cop out because I have two friends (new professionals) who were able to purchase 2017 Rogues from a dealership in Matoon, IL with no credit history at all. They were the ones who recommended Nissan.
2. When I got the initial documentation and the cost of the 2017 Rogue, I told the rep that if I had to pay that much for a car, then I would rather wait on the 2018 model that I had built online to be shipped. The manager, Brian, comes out and tells me that based on the specs I gave him, he has the exact car on the lot. I wanted a 2018 Red Rogue SV, AWD, AND FOG LAMPS with the SV premium package (if possible). I put fog lamps in bold because I told the sales rep that I would rather sacrifice the SV premium package to get the fog lamps. I even told him that I needed fog lamps because of where I would be driving the vehicle. At signing, I noticed that I was given documents for a 2017 vehicle and I was told that the 2018 model wasn’t out yet. Anyhow, I settled for the 2017. It was not till I got home that I realized that there were no fog lamps installed. I am now told that it will cost me an additional (approx.) $300 to get them installed. Mind you, it took them 2 weeks and many excuses to get back to me about the fog lamps. I was even told that Brian was out of office on the day I went back to get my car washed only to see him sitting in the lobby with another customer.
Overall, I am very dissatisfied with the outcome of this transaction. I am typically more alert when shopping but this was as rainy night, my two fussing children were with me and that plus the added discomfort of my healing leg had me distracted. They saw a quick sale and just took advantage of it.
I will say that my rep was two months into the job and very courteous however, will I recommend GL Nissan? Nope. It does not matter how many checks I can get for my recommendations. My word is more valuable than $150. As a part of the educational community, I deal with new and budding professionals who will need to make car purchases and I would rather drive them (myself) to Matoon, IL where I am sure they will be taken care of. Customer service is very simple: understand your customers’ needs and meet them. It is even more simple when a decisive customer walks in and says – “I need a new Red (or Blue) Nissan Rogue, SV trim, WITH fog lamps, AWD, utilizing the new grad incentive and the SV premium package (if possible).” I came in knowing what I wanted. It is because of this that we even opted to bring the kids along because this was going to be a simple, in and out transaction. We test drove ONE car and we were ready and yet my simple list was too much for GL Nissan. I will not buy here again and will be sure to warn my colleagues and students about being alert so that they are not taken advantage of. I will even remove their stickers and license plate frame from my car. Case closed.
I will give their service department a try but if that is anything like the sales experience, I will take my vehicle elsewhere..
Dave provided exceptional service for us. He was patient, knowledgeable, and optimistic. Brian worked his butt off too. Thank you!!!
I bought a brand new 2017 Nissan Murano from Gurley Leep last January. I do like it (it's comfortable and drives well), but my power liftgate stopped working well over a month ago. I took it to the dealership the exact same day because having a trunk that won't open and being a traveling sales rep isn't an ideal situation. I was told the parts were backordered - okay, fine. Then I called to check in and was told that they received one of the parts but were still waiting on the other one. It's now been almost a month and a half of waiting and having no way to access my trunk. I've had to fold one of my seats down and access my trunk for my luggage and sales materials that way. It's been a pain and a huge inconvenience. I even had to make other travel arrangements for our family vacation because trying to fit 5 large suitcases through my side door just wasn't happening.
Of course I called and asked if there was a way to open it without the powerlift gate being activated and they told me to bring it in so they could check. Originally, they had my car for TWO DAYS before I called them to ask if it was finished - why didn't they check then? I travel 4-5 nights a week and can't make it over there. There are also numerous other "brand new" Nissans on their lot for them to "check" on.
I'm disappointed in the lack of communication, customer service, and Gurley Leep's non existent efforts to make things right. There's absolutely no reason that this should happen with a car that is under a year old and under warranty. I go through a new car every 2-3 years and I will not be coming back to Gurley Leep and I most certainly won't be purchasing another Nissan.
Gurly Leep has helped me with my Infiniti cars several times over the years, from ordering parts to replacing a failed computer component. I have always felt they were being honest, though a few times I have opted to take my car elsewhere or work on it myself because the price was outrageous. My most recent trip brought me in with my wife to shop for a new vehicle. While they did not have the model we were interested in (Nissan Leaf), the sales team searched high and low for one. When they didn't have one anywhere within their company, they promised to track one down so we could test drive it before making a decision. No obligation, they just wanted to find us one to drive before we settled on a different electric car. We gave them a week, but later opted to drive to Chicago to do some test drives. I have no doubt that has we been patient they would have found something for us. Ultimately we settled on a different make/model, but I would have no qualms about working with them in the future, both in sales and the service department.
The team at Gurley Leep helped my wife and I find a great vehicle and the communication back and forth has been great. Thank you to Mike and the rest of the team!!
My experience here was phenomenal! I had the pleasure of working with Dave B. Not one time did I feel like I was being sold. Im a salesman for Comcast.. So I know a few salesmen and the trickery that comes with it. He took us around and showed us the perfect car for a great price!!! I.never post reviews on Google but I want it to be know that everyone that helped us from the beginning to the end were helpful, caring, and beyond nice. Smooth transaction. I know who ever you are reading this You don't know me but trust me!!!! This is by far the best experience I've ever had buying a car!!! Dave and Ken and I'm embarrassed I don't remember the guy who worked on my financing but they all did a GREAT JOB!!!👍👍
Let me state that I hate car buying and going to dealerships in general but what a pleasant surprise we got going to Gurley Leep Nissanwe arrived close to closing time to look around and met salesman Paul Luneke he took his time showing us their complete line of Rogue's and answering all our questions and showing us features on them.I know it was after closing time , but he had us take our future vehicle out for a test drive and then worked with us to our satisfaction to make the deal F and I guy Ken stayed to help out with paper work too needless to say , my wife is now the proud owner of a 2017 Rogue that she is really, really , really happy with just a great bunch of folks and I highly recommendthanks to all.

I bought my car here a few years ago and have come back a few times to get service done. Everytime I'm here, the customer service team and mechanics always go above and beyond to help me out! Never try to contact me into unnecessary work, let me go into the shop to see what work they recommend getting done I can't say enough kind words to them. Thank you!
What a great car shopping experience. Chandra Widener is very knowledgeable! We will shop with her again! Not every salesperson LISTENS to their customers wants and needs. Chandra does! Thank you! We love our Altima!
