I took my 2 year old here and he loved walking around and seeing everything. His favorite part was the farm animals and aquarium. We went on a rainy day but found ourselves there for 2 hours. The new dinosaur exhibit was another fun place. We went early in the morning and found ourselves caught in a few school crowds which became overwhelming but that's to be expected.
Really cool place. As you walk through different areas you start to realize how big the place actually is and how much their is to see and do. We were able to catch the diver who talked to the kids from inside the tank which, for a 31 year old man, was pretty cool.they even let me ask him a question lol. It seems the kids play area has been re-done from when we came last time and it is was fantastic. Price rectifies itself for the fun factor you will have with your kids. I had as much or more fun then my 5 and 7 year old did. You will not be disappointed!!
Watched this place grow from about the time my daughter was 7 until now when her daughter is 7 (30+ years). It was wonderful back then though much smaller. And it is even more wonderful now. Kudos to all the businesses, agencies, foundations and many individual citizens who continue to support this fun and educational place!
Aquarium and new underwater center are wonderous. Touch a stingray in the touch tank. Watch the jellyfish, they are hypnotic! Check out the Foucault Pendulum. Outdoor animals include tiger, anteater, maned wolf, and many more! The African Penguins and the informative zookeeper talks and twice daily feedings make this a great stop in Greensboro for visitors and a gem for residents.
Visiting the area from Raleigh and decided to check it out. Loved it. Will be back if ever in Greensboro again. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed talking to them about the animals. The exhibits were the right size for the animals, no boredom pacing like I see in other zoos. It was very cute to see the chickens, guinea hens, and a peacock roaming free.
With is truly an 'all ages' location, and annual membership paying for itself if you go more than two times a year. It makes an amazing weekly activity for preschoolers, and there's an indescribable delight and joy seeing such creatures up close. It really helps you feel more connected to the world around you.
I loved it- went with my boyfriend and no children and it was still a lot of fun. The zoo was hot but you could always go hang out in the aquarium again to cool off. Lots to do and lots of walking, but they did have plenty of benches and seats so taking a sit down break wasn't hard. Overall great experience and well worth the money.
When I was a little kid this place was nothing much to look at. However, in the past few years they have really expanded and taken a good look at what their patrons want to see. It is a bit more of a zoo than a science center, however, there do seem to be quite a few places that are under construction right now so perhaps they are working on the science center part. The new aquarium is top notch with a shark tank and sting ray petting center! If you want to see the tiger I would go in the afternoon, it seems to sleep most of the morning. The inside staff seem very nice and helpful, however, the older staff at the ticket booth are a bit abrupt , but don't let that put you off the rest is a great day out! Bring sunscreen because a good portion of the interesting stuff to see is outside and going early is better!
This Science center is more of a nature center, but it still has a lot to offer. This place has really improved as well. Some of the exhibits have been renovated and they are much better. The dinosaur exhibit has more models and they are in better condition. The aquarium is the best exhibit now, with a great variety of species and interactive displays. There are also plenty of lizards, insects and reptiles. I got to pet a tarantula! There are still a number of exhibits under renovation, but hopefully that means this place will continue to improve.
This is a great place to take toddlers! We've been several times and mine love it! The zoo area is big enough to have some neat animals, but small enough to not be overwhelming for young children! My children love the indoor play areas! I like that they provide indoor and outdoor places for eating packed lunches. I would suggest getting there right when they open on holidays and weekends!
This is certainly one of the best kids museums I have ever visited. We will DEFINITELY come here again in the future. It's gigantic and basically a mini zoo, aquarium, AND children's museum. My 6, 4, and 2 year old spent 3 hours here and didn't get bored at all! They also have an amazing ropes course for older kids and parents (although we didn't actually go on it this visit). And the city park next to it is also beautiful and fun to use!
My only suggestion is that we went on an INSANELY busy day during spring break and it was almost impossible to park anywhere. People were double parked, covering the grass, in the field They need to expand their lot!!!!!!
This place was awesome. My kid was a bit small to really appreciate it (under a year), but I surely had a fun time while I was here with my friends, taking a look at the outdoor animals as well as the aquatic section. Although I'm not the biggest fan of zoos, I haven't been to one in several years, and really had a good time going through here. It looks like they may also have some sort of a ropes course or trust exercise section that I wasn't able to check out, which seems like an interesting journey to go on with a large group of people. They also give out student discounts. Check this place out if you're passing through!
