We moved my son in this past Sunday. Yeah, I really didn't expect the unit to look like the model, so I wasn't disappointed.
What angered me was the fact management did not care to assure the condition of the unit was acceptable on move-in day. The residents were given a specific date and time to arriveto a filthy environment. The kitchen was deplorable: rotting food in the refrigerator, dirty dishes in the sink, in the dishwasher, on the table! Floors and countertops were dirt and grease crusted. Cabinets had food/kitchen items, beer cans and bottles scattered throughout. Basically, it looked lived-in by slobs.
The rationale given to me by the young staff I was directed to was that a student had moved in earlier, and that management did perform a walk-through on August 31, but come on! That was 17 days prior! The young man said all the residents were sent e-mails notifying them of the date the rest of the residents would move in. No one thought to check again? Yes, these are adults they are leasing to, but its Grandmarc I leased with, not the roommate, so Grandmarc should have assured the acceptability of the unit's common areas.
The student already living there never showed up that day. The other new roommates who arrived before us did their best to clean the place, for which I am grateful. They should not have had to do that. Had I arrived first, I would have insisted the management clean the unit. As it was, though, the representative I spoke with, who I have to give credit for staying professional despite my apparent anger, did not even come to look at the unit; he just apologized and kept typing away at the keyboard, asking about the damages.
I must be fair and add that the bedroom and bathroom were cleaned and freshly painted.
Poor, poor management. Grandmarc should care more about their business considering the monthly cost to the residents. Any other apartment complex (those NOT focused on students) would not have allowed this.
Never got my security deposit back (about $425) when I canceled the lease a month and a half before moving in. The roomate that I was going to live with found a roomate. I've called a week ago and many times since, spoken to two people, a supposed email was sent to the manager and nothing.
A lovely experience living here. The staff are friendly and always willing to help you with any problems you may have.
My favorite memory was in the beginning of the fall quarter. All of the events the staff put on made me realize how much they cared about bringing everyone together. Its always something to look forward to!
I really like how nice all of the staff is and how attentive they are. I love all the amenities we are able to get as well as the low cost. It's really great here.
We did our apartment application online, and showed up (after the 3 day rights of refusal) only to discover the unit to have dirty carpet, beer bottles and flies on the patio, broken and some missing furniture. It appeared that they did not make any preparation to have to unit cleaned for a new move in and could not offer us another unit that was clean. After this huge turn off, we did not want to stay there, but they have sought to hold us to paying for their dirty presentation of their unit. They would not own up to the fact that they dropped the ball on this unit, and allow for us to move on without them seeking to have $$$$$ for the unit, which was presented in a rather unclean manner. We never moved in, yet they put that we owe them for prorated rent until they found a tenant to take over the lease for that unit. My suggestion is to physically look at your unit before signing "online."
I love that they get back to your work orders pretty fast.
I have had a great experience. The internet can get slow at times. My building is not noisy at all.
GrandMarc is gorgeous and very safe! I love the safety aspect and how helpful the leasing office is. Wonderful move and wonderful communication.
I've been living here for about a quarter and I can say I am very happy with the decision I made to move here. Very quiet, well organized management when any issues come up. The management is friendly and easy to communicate with. Any work order or request I requested was processed and completed very fast which to any apartment it's a plus. I've been enjoying living here and I would definitely recommend this place to any friend. GrandMarc raises above my expectation by taking the extra step towards excellent and professional service.
