Excelent rooms. Nice beach. Hood service.
For my first time in Miami, I couldn't have gone to a better place. I came in for work, and the room is absolutely gorgeous, and beautiful. You have access to the main building across the street with a bar and dining hall. The staff were friendly, courteous and professional. Highly recommend as a place to stay.

The Good: Location is very close to the beach; Literally across the street (Collins Ave) and thru the main hotel, Grand Beach Hotel Surfside, is the ocean. From our suite, we can see the ocean (just a peek between the other hotels but you can see it), and downtown Miami in the distance.
The rooms are comfortable, but there are some quality details that are absent or not well maintained; the carpet edges between the bathrooms is frayed and coming up. We also had some kind of mechanical malfunction our first night where water had soaked underneath the bed (presumably from the A/C closet to the right of the bed, but could have also been from some folks who flooded the hallway leading to the rooftop pool [see photos]) and saturated the floor between the bed and the balcony.
After noticing the soaked floor, we contacted the front desk, who was very courteous and sent up an engineer quickly to assess the situation. Condensation was also building up on the vent, which normally would be fine, however in this suite, the vent is directly above the bed, and it was dripping from the ceiling to the bed [see photos of vent above bed]
Because of the late hour (11pm EST) a manager was not available immediately to speak with, but the front desk assured me that a manager would contact us. Fast-forward ten hours, no call from the manager and instead we're awakened at 9am EST by two more engineers, who want to come in and reassess the situation. A simple phone call would have been the appropriate choice, to a) see if we're even awake, dressed, etc. and b) complete the process of having a manager contact us, as the front desk stated would occur.
Unfortunately, there was a slight language barrier between us and a few of the staff, which made communicating challenges and room issues even more of an ordeal. The pair of engineers were not fluid English speakers, and when I told them that now wasn't really a good time as my wife was currently in the shower, one of them actually picked up my room phone and made an outbound call. Absurd.
The remainder of the morning and afternoon was spent going back and forth between the hotel staff, waiting on return phone calls from both engineering and hotel management. We finally were moved to another suite, which was nice but also had it's own, separate issues, in particular, cleanliness. This would not have been a big deal, if the staff here were on point and well trained in hospitality. Sadly, it seems that the majority were not. As soon as we were in the new room, we noticed it wasn't clean, and called to the front desk again and requested housekeeping. We then went to the beach for an hour to try to relax. The pools and bar in the hotels are very nice. The beach staff was excellent, friendly and helpful.
Upon returning from the beach, the room was not clean, even though the front desk assured us that housekeeping had been back as requested. We then showed pictures of the toilet and other items that needed attention, and she apologized profusely and resent housekeeping. We went for a late 3:45pm EST lunch to try to relax and again let housekeeping perform the requested tasks.
Obviously, this is unacceptable, and when we brought this to the attention of management, we were met with resistance and the implication that we were fabricating or exaggerating or flat out lying about our experiences. That was really unfortunate and so I've posted pictures here as confirmation, and hopefully to aid and assist the next guest who stays.
Great beautiful hotel couldn't really enjoyed the pool or spa thanks to the hurricane wish overnight parking was cheaper
Hotel staff are very polite, friendly and most helpful. Private Access to a beautiful beach and staff on hand to sort out towels and sun loungers so no need to stress! Pools are small but who cares about the pool when the beach is so amazing! Rooms are large and cleaned every day. There is a good restaurant and many other nice ones in the area. Best thing about this hotel is the staff who are most friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Danny, Hana and Krystal :)
For us, awesome layout with the multiple rooms with multiple bathrooms and it was quiet. Location was good and access to the main hotel was convenient. However, it is expensive to pay for resort fees you really will not use in the West hotel and parking is pricey. But overall, we really liked it.
Great suite, service quick but a lil expensive. Close to beach. Free oranges and close to store, Which helped great on groceries. I truly recommend buying snacks .
It was so fancy and staying at this hotel allowed access to the even fancier sister hotel with large chess and two pools and hot tubs and beach access
Great place with lots of amenities.
The people there really take care of the guest.
What i love most is they are right on the beach so access to the ocean is great.
Great suite, service quick but a lil expensive. Close to beach. Free oranges and close to store.
Great location with fantastic views. Food was great and the mojitos lovely.
I did not have time to leave my review right away because I did not want to have such a bad energy right away after my wedding. I had such bad experience with a customer service, rude front desk with attitude and the manager who was not flexible at all. MOST important it was the night before the WEDDING. I stayed at west side on February 9 room 405! i had very late check in around 8pm, I knew the check out at 12pm on next day. I asked the front desk person if it will be okay to have 30 minutes late check out, because it my wedding day on February 10, I don't want to be outside a hour before my wedding. I just asked 30 minutes, it was not a regular date, it was a special day. the front desk said it will be no problem. My fiancé wanted to surprise me, he called to the hotel on February 9 and asked if he can purchase a bottle of champagne for me, he was on hold 30 minutes, after the person said they could bring champagne but they will charge my credit card, he said no, I want surprise her! So he could not purchase it for me. Then I asked if I can order breakfast in my room, guess what! I could not have room service in west side! next day morning February 10, I am getting ready for my big day, I have hair stylist is doing my hair, the front desk start calling me non stop after 12, knocking on my door I told them I will be ready soon, please give the time! Then the manager called me it was around 12:15, I explained everything over phone, about How I asked the day before about late check out, I was begging her "please could you give me some time to be ready, hair stylist is still doing my hair, it's my wedding, please I need 15 minutes! The manager said no 10 minutes,I was begging : "please 15 minutes". Her answer killed me : "10 minutes, 5 minutes more i will charge you for whole day!! Unbelievable, I was so upset, we were rush to leave the room, I left in 10 minutes, my hair is not perfect, I'm in stress. I came to the front desk, I said to the girl on front deck "I hope it is no problem I left the room" the girl gave me such attitude, she said: "No, because you were in 10 minutes out" so sad there I am holding my wedding dress because I did not have time to put it on me! I asked her, why you gave me such attitude, it is my wedding! I asked her if she can provide me her name, she said she is not going to tell me her name! Unbelievable, the front desk refuse to give me her name! You almost ruined my day, I do not understand why people were so rude! I live in Miami, I know many people who works in the same industry, after my story they were in shock how the hotel care about they clients!
I could stay in W Miami Beach, always good service, but I decided to stay in that hotel because it was close to my ceremony! Big mistake!
