First-rate facilities and a picturesque course that’s always challenging but not ridiculously difficult. Friendly and helpful staff gave us a warm welcome even though we’re not members. A little pricey for us but worth it once in a while. We saw lots of wild turkeys and woodchucks.
Beautiful and challenging course with just the right amount of sand and water hazards. Super nice staff ready to help. Lots of fun today, thanks!
What a beautiful course and if you need clubs they give you a set of Pings that are in great shape.
Perfectly remodeled golf course. Had a great experience and played a great round of golf.complementary range balls available for use, show up at least 30 minutes before tee time. They had complimentary towels in the cart and loaded the cart for me as soon as I arrived to the course.
Best course in Virginia or maybe tied with the homestead.
They ll get it back in shape.
I d play this over any of the Kingsmill courses any day.
One of the best public golf courses in the country. Robert Tent Jones design being renovated re-opening May 2017
Played Gold course 4/10/16. Very disappointing. Great track; course conditions were extremely poor. Could not play the ball down. Course is being closed for renovations starting next month. Has management decided to forgo maintenance in advance of course closure?
Last weekend, a dozen of our close golfers played both GOLD and GREEN course. In spite of rainy weather on Saturday, the GOLD course impressed us on par with its reputation for its course and the friendly and professional staff. Very very strong recommendation as a golf course to play.
Then, we played Saturday the GREEN course with high expectation, armed with the great experience the day before at the GOLD and sunny weather. The course itself was not as well maintained for the name of Golden Horseshoe. What a upsetting experience we had with the course marshall!! The man was very arrogant, rude, impolite, not welcoming at all. His name tag was showing Steven Snyder. Finally after a few distasteful encounters in earlier holes, he was arguing with my frineds on a par three. In that hole, two of us missed birdie putts an I missed my very short par putt due to the distraction and commotion. I would fire him right away if I were the club manager. He is bad business for the GRREN club and for the GOLD course as well in association. Who would want to go back or recommend, driving many hours, for such a terrible experience?? The only saving point of the club was that the rest of the staff was very appologetic and friendly in general. But that's like making a putt for quadruple boggie...
I love the staff at the golden horseshoe they are so friendly. The location is my favorite in williamsburg tucked deep in the historic area.
Very challenging layout on the Gold course, more friendly and plyable is the Green course. Play both on the same day and you will be one worn out golfer!
