Partner: Western Organization of People Living with HIV/AIDS | Western Kenya
Key Fact: In 2009 the HIV rate in Kenya was 6.3%.
About the Partnership:
Western Organization of People Living with HIV/AIDS (WOPLAH) was founded with Ambassadors of Hope to address the pain and suffering of orphans, vulnerable children, and people living with HIV/AIDS in Western Kenya. WOPLAH seeks to create good will for the most vulnerable children, families and the Western Kenya community at large. The GlobeMed chapter at Colorado College was drawn to WOPLAH’s focus on grassroots, sustainable methods of community development. Their partnership launches in the fall of 2012 and both WOPLAH’s and GlobeMed at Colorado College’s leadership are excited to kick off project design and fundraising.
“WOPLAH wishes to work with GlobeMed students to help in sharing and transferring information from different areas. It’s expected for us to learn from the students as they also learn from us.”
– Edwin Wetoyi, Program Coordinator at WOPLAH
