A cute, fun shop FULL of books on one side and toys on the other, with a tummy-warming cafe in the back. The books have everything from new hits to old classics, some dating back a few hundred years!

Amazing bookstore. We love the used book section and fun toys for kids to play with. There is a cafe inside with great lunches.

An excellent used and new bookstore/toy store. This place is great for all ages of readers with books for adults to pre-K and everything in between. They also have a great variety of school workbooks for grade schoolers (though I have yet to find any college textbooks.) All in all, a great place to find affordable books and toys for kids wrapped in a fun yet cozy setting.

This place is a gem in Lynchburg and I love visiting this place, even if for just a cup of coffee and to browse. They are considered a local business so the money spent here stays within the community. To a child walking into this place, it must feel almost magical. The decor is unique and the atmosphere is a calming one. There are so many toys and areas of interest for children that there is something for every child, no matter what they are in to. Aside from that, this is the best teacher resource place in the area. They have so many learning materials for teachers and children that are not available anywhere else in this area. The choices for classroom decor is awesome! Givens is also a bookstore with a great selection of new books and a great upstairs section for used books. Check it out for yourself and you will not be disappointed, especially if you have children or need classroom supplies. For all the teachers out there, they also laminate for much cheaper than most other places. The cafe in the back (The Drowsy Poet) has great coffee also!

I love independent book stores. I visit here every time I come to Lynchburg. The selection leans toward the popular and the local, but you can find some surprises if you have time to look. Extensive used book section with a gob of old books, but you have to comb them for relevant bargains.

Whether you want coffee, a good book, a unique toy, or school materials, there's no better place to shop, than Givens. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Shopping in a brick and mortar store helps the community, but also gives you the hands-on experience you really need to make good decisions. Plus, the kids love the giant train and pond outside.

A great place to purchase educational items and toys. They also have a great selection of new and used books. There is also the Drowsy Poet to get a coffee and light food.

Great selection of books, school supplies, educational toys and more - well worth a visit. A little expensive compared to the big box stores but feels good to support a local business!

The best bookstore in town, hands down. Atmosphere is amazing and the staff are so friendly and relaxed. The easy chairs for reading and cafe (The Drowsy Poet) only add to the charm and comfort of Givens. Be sure to try a Milton at the cafe, they are the best! The used selections are well-priced and first rate, especially the children's used section. Easy to find unique reads and old copies. I have spent many many happy hours there.
