It used to be my favorite steakhouse in West Chicago, not anymore!
We arrived 30 min early and after waiting 1.5 hours minutes for our reserved table (1 hour after our confirmed reservation time) we finally got seated. This was supposed to be a great celebration of my daughters confirmation, it ended up being a huge disappointment. We spent the waiting time eating dry fries and slow service in the bar. The dinner was not up to the standard of a high priced Chicago steakhouse. My steak was ok, but I believe my dog enjoyed it much more than me.
Summary; extremely poor time management , overcrowded and stressed out staff, steaks far away from the quality level it used to be. Do NOT bring customers or family there, they will hate the waiting time.
We are saying never again, there are better options
Nice place. High end. Tasty burger. Solid service. Pricey. For this kind of money the atmosphere could have been a little nicer. I don't even think they had music playing. The bun on the hamburger was falling apart because it was not moist. There was no tap beer. The wait staff was great but almost too good. One guy came to our table two times for a good minute or two and kept getting the crumbs off and it was a little too close for too long. Ha. All in all i give it 3.5 out of 5.
A great place for a drink and some dinner. Beautiful steaks and seafood. There was a live pianist when we walked into the bar. However there were TV's in the bar that stole from the antiquity of the ambiance.
Honestly the $400 bill for my family of five (3 kids) and only two Captain and Cokes just didn’t seem worth it. Yes everything tasted good but not sure I see the $400 value. I would rate five stars but I didn’t experience anything special to make up for the price tag.
Good food and greAt service would highly recommend, even tho a bit pricey but still a magnificent time to spent
Support staff is great! Very personable and accommodating. Love the patio for drinks and cigars.
Gibson's Oak Brook is one of the best, most reliable places for excellent steak, seafood and drinks outside Chicago. The location in Chicago is even better! The staff does great and I've never been disappointed
We have dined here a number of times for a weekend lunch, which has always been fantastic. Weekend lunches are not too crowded. The food has always been fantastic and the servers we have had have always been amazing.
Had a full course! Chicago cut steak, The Tower of seafood appetizer and devils food cake/sundae and creme brulee. Our server was excellent, his name was Joseph or Joe, good time and great food!
I visited for an event and everything was AMAZING! Please note that this review applies to the banquet experience so I am unable to guarantee the quality of the regular restaurant dining experience, and as I was a guest, nor could I comment on prices. That said, everything was so clean and well-put-together. The interior was swanky throughout. Steak was, of course, impressive, as this is a steakhouse after all, with desserts to die for. Would recommend!
This place is awesome, very upscale. We were here for our 4th yr anniversary and the service was just fantastic, the steaks were amazing cooked to perfection. They even had live music playing at the bar. Definitely pricey but the service was outstanding.
Busy, attractive, upscale venue for prime steaks, seafood, and more.
The patio seating during warmer-weather season is great for a date night, parties, or a get together with friends. It almost feels country club-esque due to it being hidden from plain view.
The service is always excellent, as well as the food. I look forward to coming back once spring rolls around.
Being from Argentina, I've had my share of superb steaks. First time dining at Gibson's, so I was excited. I ordered the 24 oz Bone-in and it was cooked exactly how I wanted. However, the taste was bland and under-seasoned. Generally when I cut into a med-rare steak, my plate oozes with juice, but not a drop which I knew was a red flag. My son ordered the chicken and fries off the kids menu. The fries were cooked nice, but the chicken was very, very dry. My wife ordered the crusted salmon, which was extremely cold when it was presented, and for some reason was in a 'pool' of dressing which I think was a mistake. Was also under-seasoned which appears to be consistent in their food preparation. In the spirit of the event, was not considering complaining or sending back food because we could have sent back everything which I didn't feel was appropriate. I felt the service was solid and clearly the workers were passionate about their jobs. Pricing was what you would expect from a USA steakhouse. 2 stars for the food, 4 stars for the service. Hence, the 3 star rating.
