If you want quality service this is the place to take your German vehicle. If you want to drive an expensive car, not maintain it, and complain about the bill go see your local backyard mechanic. Good service isn't cheap. Cheap service isn't good! These guys fix it correctly the first time.
The staff at German Autowerks is friendly, and the work they have performed has been great. I have a 72' VW Beetle Bug. She is a 45 year old daily driver so I needed her to be reliable. I would recommend them to anyone.

These guys are awesome! Very helpful and knowledgeable. They helped diagnose some problems on an older Passat and were very honest. Thanks Bob!
I took my partner's VW EOS here for an analysis as the check engine light was on. I had to pay $140 for them to inaccurately diagnose that the problem was going to cost me an engine overhaul of "around $4K." I did my own research and diagnosed that the coil packs were faulty and needed replaced. I ordered a set of 4 factory spec coil packs for $120 and it fixed part of the problem. I then took the car to Motorkars in Grandview and they told me it was actually a really common issue that would cost $1,000 to replace -- if it weren't for the fact that there was a recall. They helped me set up an appointment at the VW dealership and the problem fixed for free. The moral of the story is Motorkars earned my gratitude and my business!
Having a MKII Scirocco one of the hardest parts was finding a shop that would even touch my car. I found GAW through another shop and they have been nothing short of great and so accommodating. Mechanics i trust, and every person I've spoken with has been incredibly easy to talk to. A belt that had been replaced months ago by them failed because of some other component had rust and interfered with the belt itself, they replaced the belt and found a solution to the rust, all free of charge. I'm so impressed with them every time I pick my car up. Thank you for the wonderful service!
The best shop around Columbus for your VW. John was a wonderful mechanic and helped get my AC back up and working. I highly recommend this shop to any VW owner!
One of the best car buying experiences I have ever had. The difference in professionalism and knowledge is obvious. I went to a plethora of used car lots before GA and left disappointed. I would find hidden damage, mechanical issues and even title issues that were not disclosed and often hidden by these decrepit car lots.
GA treated me fairly, allowed me to inspect the vehicle on one of their racks and even fixed a small issue we had with the vehicle after purchase.
Thank you for making an often stressful experience pleasurable.
Special thanks to Bruno.
My experience with German Autowerks was exceptional. I love my Beetle but it has a lot of items that need repaired. I took it to the shop and the service writer explained that they would need at least an hour labor to figure out what was needed. They came back with a list of items and took the time to explain each item and then prioritize what was needed and what could wait. They were very upfront about the potential cost of all the items but after I had the most needed repairs completed, my car ran much better and the warning lights on the dash were out. It still needs some work but I have an idea what it should cost if nothing else goes wrong. Its true that any type of car can have its issues but thanks to the good service and a professional attitude of the folks at German Autowerks, I am now a full fledged VW fan and possibly a life time owner.
I worked with John and Jesse for many years. Both are stand up guys. I would not hesitate to have John work on any of mine or my families vehicles. I feel the same of Jesse. Keep up the good work guys.
I purchased my wife's 1998 A6 Quattro from John about 3 1/2 years ago. I usually do my own repair work, but had John and his guys take care of a couple of minor issues as part of the purchase agreement. Since then, I have been back a few times to ask for a nudge in the right direction when I was stuck chasing down some electrical issues. John and his team were always very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend them.
I have to be honest. John Clancy is one man that will do what he can in his power to help you out. German Autowerks and John are the same people who completely fixed a car up, made it street legal and a reliable transportation for a family that could use some help, and he paid for all of it out of his personal pocket.
My personal experience with him started 7 months ago. I was going through a bad time in my life, lost my dad and my job around the same time. I was at the lowest part of my life and I get a email about a job. I didn't think I had a chance for it. But I showed up to meet John and the rest of German Autowerks team, it was a great experience for me, I love all VW's and have owned a few in my time . He hired me and has been not just a boss but one hell of a friend!
For people to degrade what we do hurts all of us there. We are not just employees we are family! Keep up the good work.
I've taken my Jetta here a few times for various work. The people are courteous and helpful, they do good work, and are honest. While their prices are fair, I've found that there isn't a huge difference between German Autowerks and some local dealers.
Besides price, part of the reason I deducted one star is something a bit silly. They have the world's worst music playing when you're on the phone on hold. Seriously, its awful. Otherwise I'd definitely recommend German Autowerks.
