After 1 month of being here, this is not the place for my 9 month old daughter. After 4days of being in the infant room her but was raw to the point of bleeding I received no phone call and was notified upon my arrival around 3:30 on a Friday and luckily I have a great pediatrician to call her in burn cream. She never had a rash before this she didn't even want to crawl or sit. It was so infuriating the lack of care that she was when I approach the director about it I was told there are many accredited Macy day cares around here or I need to find private care like a nanny because changing her diaper ever 40mins is to much of an inconvenience( and considered one on one care according to the director). I had many incidents diaper wise feeding not giving her Tylenol like they're supposed to leaving poop in her vagina and after any incident The director always told me oh there's nannies and other forms of care for her because I asked them to change her diaper every 40 mins instead of 2 hours like the others babies per dss standard. She wanted to sweep me under the rug and direct me else where so I wasn't her problem well she got her wish, but I will inform others so their little baby with not be subjected to such neglect.

If I could give Gateway 10 stars I would. We moved from Florida to SC just shy of 1 year ago. We called over 50 daycares and churches in the Lexington/Columbia/Irmo area and not one other institution was willing to take our at the time 6mo old triplets because one of them had a feeding tube. Gateway was the only place that said they were willing to learn how to best accommodate her. In just under one year, BECAUSE of Gateway, my 10week premature babies who were significantly behind, are now 17mo old toddlers are on track in their development. Because of the infant teachers, Angel, Nisha, and Amanda, my daughter has conquered her aversion and is no longer on a feeding tube. I cannot say enough about how amazing the people at Gateway are. I wouldn't want my kids going anywhere else.

To whoever wrote the review about the apple...I'm going to assume the child was in one of the beginner rooms where the age is 12-24mo. My kids didn't start solids until well behind the norm, around 8mo, considering mine are some of the youngest in those rooms, and eat apples frequently, I'm going to say your anger is misplaced. Toddlers gag frequently on food. They don't know how to pace themselves properly and sometimes don't chew well enough. As far as them not contacting you, doubt it. I have 1/4 of the room with 3 kids and I don't have any issues with their communication.

I have 2 of my children here at this center and I wouldn't move them is someone paid me. The staff there is so loving, its like a home away from home. The management is incredible and so is the cook. I would give 1000 stars if I could.

Such a great place. This is our first summer in Lexington, I was very weary about where to send my daughter for summer camp. This summer has been amazing for her. She has blossomed so much with meeting new friends and learning new things. Not to mention the amazing field trips they schedule for her class. I'm so excited to see what the school year will bring.

Why would a Child Development Center serve one year olds unpeeled hard apples and other foods that can cause a choking hazard. This just happened a few weeks ago and a child choked on an apple and no one in management notified the parents at the time of the incident nor told them when they picked their one year old up. I honestly hope the parents that have young children attending this facility pay close attention to their little ones and ask their caregivers questions about their child's day and meals cause the smaller children aren't able to speak up. Just because a facility looks nice from inside and out and the staff are very polite doesn't mean that the children are being taken care of properly and with respect when the parents aren't in the room or building. I've worked in a daycare center in the past and honestly I wouldn't go back or allow my grandchild to attend a daycare due to what I've experienced with some of the staff and how the children were treated!!! Be careful whose hands you leave your precious babies care in, not everyone was meant to work with children or manage one as well. I didn't even want to give a star but it wouldn't let me post my review!!!

My kids have attended this facility for the past five years - my son until he began kindergarten and now my daughter who is preparing for kindergarten in their Pre-K program. I am VERY picky about where my children are when they aren't with me and a daycare was important. I did my research and site visits including the consideration of a nanny instead of daycare. My kids loved their teachers at Gateway many of whom are still there! The rooms have full glass walls allowing everyone to be able to see in every room (now that to me is accountability to know that eyes can always be watching). They have the facility professionally cleaned every evening by a cleaning company, the teachers in the infant and toddlers rooms soak the toys in cleaning solution every day and prep for the next day. The rooms and walls are full of colorful art and learning activities for kids and the summer programs are fun and allow older kids to attend field trips like the movies, bowling and frozen yogurt. I am lucky to have found a place I trust with people that have watched my children grow up before their eyes.
