Surprising to find in the middle of the UP But it was a great find. Wonderful setup for a small zoo.
The animals looked clean. The bear didn't seem Happy, the sign said there was a dog companion, but we didn't see him. There were a few places that looked as though it needed maintenance and cleaning. Nice visit!
Interesting mix of animals. A nice small zoo where you can get up close to the animals. Hopefully, as the grow the can continue to improve the animal enclosures. Never seen a bear and a dog living together and doubt I ever will again. Great place to take kids.
This place is amazing. The best zoo I have ever been too. You are among the animals. There are birds all around and you can feed bears. It is a great place to bring kids.
It's a little zoo - being in the Upper Peninsula - but surprisingly entertaining. Some people can't see the forest for the trees and have no appreciation. Others, hopefully you, will find it as fun as us.
Oh, make sure to check out the goats. Quite the characters. .
Amazing experience. Compared to Potter's Park it's a small zoo however the experience you walk away with is incredible. You get so much closer to the animals. And the animals themselves are very social. They actually interact with you. I love this place and intend to make it an annual destination.
It was a bit small for a zoo. Priced moderate. The kids liked it. You can feed the animals.
My parents and son loved this zoo. It was just the right size. It's also a petting zoo.
This is a fantastic small zoo. There are many different animal exhibits; ranging from small to large animals. It is very kid friendly and not too expensive. A definite plus for our family of seven. Being in the forested Upper Pennisula, the trails are shaded and are mulched. That being said, bring bug spraythe mosquitoes are out in full force. There are free range birds that wander the zoo and are very friendly. The zoo allows guests to feed the alpacas, deer, goats, and bears when guests purchase feed/apples. Feeding the animals was a highlight! The gift shop is full of reasonably priced educational toys and zoo memorobilia. It has only been a day since our last visit and our kids are already planning the next Garlyn Zoo visit!
A wide variety of zoological creatures in a quaint and serene setting; free roaming birds are a treat for the kids. Many opportunities to feed the critters.
This is a great place to go to when you are in the U.P. , we went on Mother's Day (Moms get in for free) and it was great. We were expecting for it to be a very small place and have only a few animals, but we were wrong! We purchased a bag of icecream cones with seeds in the gift shop to feed to the deer, alpacas and goats. They have tons of peacocks running around, even one in the parking lot! If you visit here you will have a great time!
