Here are 9 tips to help you get started: https://bit.ly/2DQ02GW
Hey Fox Valley. Apparently you need to train your employees better in regards to Illinois breastfeeding law. Here’s a refresher.
(740 ILCS 137/10)
Sec. 10. Breastfeeding Location. A mother may breastfeed her baby in any location, public or private, where the mother is otherwise authorized to be, irrespective of whether the nipple of the mother's breast is uncovered during or incidental to the breastfeeding; however, a mother considering whether to breastfeed her baby in a place of worship shall comport her behavior with the norms appropriate in that place of worship.

(740 ILCS 137/15)
Sec. 15. Private right of action. A woman who has been denied the right to breastfeed by the owner or manager of a public or private location, other than a private residence or place of worship, may bring an action to enjoin future denials of the right to breastfeed. If the woman prevails in her suit, she shall be awarded reasonable attorney's fees and reasonable expenses of litigation.

Tell your male employees to keep themselves out of a breastfeeding mom’s boobs and mind their own business.
Mall management asked a mother to go breastfeed in a public restroom today. Breastfeeding mothers can feed anywhere and it is illegal for you to tell them when, where, and how they can do it. It's hard enough getting out with an infant, the last thing you want to do is be harassed at your local mall by a bunch of uneducated men that are sexualizing the act of breastfeeding.
Here are the laws regarding breast feeding in public since your employees seem to think they can tell a mother to breastfeed her baby in a bathroom or else she has to leave.
Public Act 093-0942
“The Right to Breastfeed Act”
Effective 2004
“The Right to Breastfeed Act” protects a mother’s right to breastfeed her baby in public. A mother may breastfeed in any location, public or private, where the mother is otherwise authorized to be A woman who has been denied the right to breastfeed by the owner or manager of a public or private location may bring acourt action andmay be awarded reasonable expenses of litigation.
This mall has been an anchor point for me my entire life. I went to this mall as a newborn in winter 1975/1976. My mother pushed me around till I could walk. I hung out here as a kid frequenting the arcade, food court, and theater. I took my dates here in highschool and college. I took my wife here on our first date. She said she'd marry me in the food court 9 years later. We married and moved down the street. We bought our first home on Foxtail drive. Any old regulars will remember the Foxtale at christmas. I bought her wedding ring here, our appliances, clothes, you name it. This mall has been and will be very important in my life. Thank you for keeping it a fun place to go!
I’m so disappointed in our experience yesterday. We witnessed a mom get asked to breastfeed her baby in a bathroom. Ask yourself mall security, would you or your family enjoy their meal in a public bathroom stall. No, that’s why It’s illegal to ask such a thing. It’s natural nourishment. I hope you publicly apologize to this woman.
You guys need to learn the laws and train your staff better. It is illegal (and plain ignorant) to ask a breastfeeding mother to go to the bathroom to feed or leave. Good luck with the backlash and protests from the public.
Security personnel had the audacity to tell a nursing mother to go feed her baby in a bathroom!! In the state of Illinois it is perfectly legal for a breastfeeding mother to feed her baby whenever and wherever she pleases. However it is ILLEGAL to tell her to go elsewhere. Grow up and educate your staff! Management should be absolutely ashamed. I really hope that poor mama seeks a lawsuit.
Disrespectful employees .
I bet majority of your customers are MOTHERS, yet the employees think it's okay to disrespect a mother while feeding her child. You should NEVER disrespect anyone, especially for being a good mother! Let me think screaming hungry baby, or happy fed baby? Pretty sure everyone would chose happy fed baby. But because she breast fed her child it makes it wrong?! I hope you guys lose many customers. But may god bless you and help you realize how amazing breastfeeding is, no matter where it is done! To the employees involved: You should be ashamed of your actions. I bet you would love to see a woman with her boobs out, but if shes feeding her child it's wrong? Makes no sense. Dont like it? Then guess what, DONT LOOK!
Just in case you missed the legal memo:
“The Right to Breastfeed Act” protects a mother’s right to breastfeed her baby in public. A mother may breastfeed in any location, public or private, where the mother is otherwise authorized to be.
Know the law. Women have the right to breastfeed in public without three staff coming up to harass her and tell her to nurse in the bathroom!
You still seem to think having a puppy mill store among your tenants is good business. That is disgusting, and I will not set foot in your mall until it is gone.
You should have your security guards eat their lunch in a bathroom if they feel infants should eat in such an unsanitary place. Btw. It's illegal to even suggest. I assume you'll be flooded with mom's soon.
The Fox Valley Mall has security guards that broke a law that allow women to breastfeed in public. The same mall that has half naked men and women plastered in stores and on manakins. Their employee’s apparently don’t value a Mother’s right to feed her baby in the open not a small dingy most likely unsanitary area; let alone did they seem to value the law. Unless they weren’t trained on it.
Really disappointed in how uneducated the staff here is on breastfeeding laws. What a disgrace your security team is. You should be ashamed.
Your cute little mall cops broke the law today!! It is illegal in the state of Illinois to tell a mother she cannot feed her child! It is illegal to tell her to get out!! Your pretend cops need to be fired IMMEDIATELY. I bet more than 90% of your profits come out of the pockets of families! It’s okay to have a Victoria’s Secret model with her boobs on display for everyone to see? Little underage girls walk around the mall with their breast and ass cheeks hanging out and that’s okay? But feeing a child is not okay? Post a public apology and FIRE THE KIDS PLAYING DRESS UP. Management should be ASHAMED.
Very upsetting how the mother was treated. I know you’ve been giving the canned response that the mall has always allowed breastfeeding, but if that’s the case, why isn’t it a part of training? Epic fail.
Love the stores. Good deals going on. Don't really spend alot of money, but I live 2 hrs away and dropped someone off at airport. Been here before and try to go when I get a chance, and the weather happen to be nice. Decided to spend money since not much where we live. Found things I liked here so didn't go to other stores outside of the mall. Did miss the tilted kilt that closed. Enjoyed the food when we ate there before. Will definitely be back when I can. Busy place since on a weekend, but no rodiness with kids, so still very enjoyable. Love the stores and variety.
Why don't you read up on breastfeeding laws. Terrible thing you did to a woman trying to feed her freaking baby. I hope she sues.
Beware of MDM special Occasion dresses. They. Sell crap dresses that fall apart. No refund. Not even a partial refund. My daughters prom dress fell apart in 2 hours. And they have the worst customer service everdon't waste your money.
