Miles of hiking trails for every kind of hiker. It also has ramps for kayaks and canoes into the Embarass river. Plenty of picnic tables for cookouts and family get togethers.

Loved it. Trails were great and well kept. Could use some more markers along trails but other than that it was a great experience for me and my 2 dogs.

Some moderate & difficult trails that will give you a good workout. Scenic, wooded ravines, near the river. Some stairs on the trails need desperate repair, but overall a nice park, for the size.

This is a nice park with multiple trails. Ridge Lake, in the park is fun. It is open in summer FREE, but limited hours. You just call and make a reservation. They supply row boats with wet wells for fish. It is a research lake , so staff will measure weigh, etc. You can have fish if the correct size and keep for dinner. (Fishing has approx 100 steps down to lake(or maybe just feels like it), not W/C accessible)
They also have cabins for rent (you supply linen)
and camping spots. Baseball diamonds, pavilions and playgrounds.

I visited the campground over Labor Day weekend. Even though the campground was near capacity with other campers, my family and I enjoyed a quiet , peaceful stay. The wooded campground affords each campsite a bit of privacy and insulation from the other campsites.
The grandkids enjoyed the Riverview hiking trail, the Eagles Nest lookout, and the public playground.
Overall, we had a great time. The IDNR staff in the park office and the campground host, Dan, were very pleasant and helpful.

I booked online. Pretty sure that little girl you see playing by the water on their website is not at Fox Ridge. I found water, but I wouldn't touch it. Fine campsite.

Some sites 30 amp only, some sites 50 amp. NO ONE in this entire camp, no one on duty, no one answering phones. Went to website recommended by phone, but not able to reserve any sites even though they said available to reserve. Thanks for the help, guys. NO WATER hookups. That's why no one is there to camp and lots are overgrown.

Best trails! Each play area has a bathroom. Trails are rated and clearly marked. Plenty of room in picnic area.

Great place to go kayaking and have a picnic. We put in our kayaks at Lake Charleston and took out in Fox Ridge due to a road in Fox Ridge being closed. There were many banks to stop at along the way. I would recommend this trip to any kayaker.

Nice Park well up kept. Plenty of trails, and picnic areas. Also supposed to have nice rv camping though I personally have not gone.

This is a great state park! Lots of trails, some of which are pretty challenging for Illinois, and plenty of places for picnics! The Embarras River flows threw the park, which provides a great canoeing/kayaking experience. Put in up by the Charleston Dam, and get out on the southern portion of the park, makes for a great trip!
