Had a great late dinner of calamari and steamed mussels. The kitchen closes at 9 p.m. and I was 15 minutes to call the food came out Pleasant and timely as ever. Two beers later in a good atmosphere on the bar side I finished my meal and was amused by a game of throwing darts. Great food and fellowship. Thanks to the bartender Hunter!
Fancy dining experience. They really know how to cook with flavor. I used to live in South Boston, Virginia and I helped them out one Christmas season with some catering. All I can remember is how pretty the food looked! Some of my friends actually used to cook there as a first job and they feel in love with cooking after that, I don't know how they do it!
Excellent restaurant, great food and very friendly beautiful waitresses
Great food if you don't get what you want it's because you didn't talk to your server. We got everything that was to our liking . Very very good.
We have a group that meets every 3 months. We always have a waitress who is very accommodating. Very good service, food is always great. We would not go anywhere else.
The food was good and service was great
Great food and service.
Best Salad bar! Food is good, and consistent.
Ate here while in town for the races at VIR. No reservations on a Saturday night...they got us right in. The wait for a waitress to stop by after that was a little long. Maybe 10 minutes before anyone even came by the table. Food was good and portions were good. Prices were okay for the amount of food we got. Ambiance was nice.
Good steaks. Everything else just ok. I think you eat on pool tables. The tables of very large for the restaurant.
I visit Four Oaks on a monthly basis with my group. Since we usually all get the same item, soup and salad bar and/ or some inexpensive entree, last night was the first time I had ordered off the Prix fixe menu.
I got the Porcini mushroom ravioli with butter and Parmesan. The ravioli were very good, although obviously heated up from bulk frozen, but the "butter" sauce contained jarred minced garlic and I am still haunted this morning by the lingering taste!
I hate that stuff; garlic is so cheap, why ruin a dish where it is the star player by using the preminced junk? The Parmesan cheese was prepacked shredded, resulting in something that had a salty, slightly sour taste and the consistency of soft plastic.
Someone else got the beef and broccoli bowl. They indicated that the beef was tender but the seasoning was bland and boring.
The salad bar is not only boring but outdated. No homemade touches here, everything seems to be bought in bulk and shows it. The salad dressings are strange. They are definitely bulk purchases and not of the highest caliber; they are little more than chemicals mixed with old oil and whipped with salt.
However that said, the restaurant seems to be popular with the locals. I can only wonder what they would think of food that was actually cooked from scratch and seasoned correctly.
