This is a very well kept park. There's a very short walk from the parking area to the waterfall overlook. So great for families. There's a trail going down to the base of the waterfall. It's manmade with a railing. Overall, it was a short fun hike for me and my 6 year old daughter.
This is such a beautiful place to spend a day, a weekend or a week. The hike to the bottom is a great time as well as the hidden cave you come across on your way.
You owe it to yourself to make this a destination you can't miss.
If you're aren't the hiking type or if you're unable, the overlook is a great place to take it all in without the hike.
This place has everything. Hotel, camping, pool, golf, hiking. If you love camping this is a gold mine. If you don't like camping you'll still like this place. We had a fishing cabin. It had wifi, ac, and flat screen TV. But it also had a wood burning stove and over hung the lake with a huge porch and had tall windows for a beautiful view of woods and lake. It's the best of both worlds. If I had to sum this place up it's a hidden gem that people dream of finding.
Very nice State Park, lots to see and do. The restaurant is decent, and the Inn is nice though dated. Campground is very good though not a lot of space between sites. We stayed in a lakeside cabin, which was very spacious (9 of us plus 3 dogs!) and comfortable, although the fireplace was not very effective- it was difficult to get and keep a fire going- and we are pros. All in all, it was a good experience.
Love this place!! I stayed here for a 5 day female camping trip and it was amazing. The falls are beautiful and the hike to get there was mildly challenging but enough to make you sweat! The rock formations near the base of the falls are MAGICAL. The cabins are cute and simple and I was comfortable on the top bunk and slept like a baby. There were hiking trails, swimming holes and beautiful fields to explore. The kayaking was great and the guys that run the boat rentals were so nice and helpful. There is a TON to do here. Shops, restaurants, golf, and a pool. I highly recommend any nature lover to experience fall creek falls at least once. It is truly a wonderful place. Don't plan on using your phone if you have T-Mobile tho!
We visit this State Park at least four times a year. There is so much beauty to be seen. Something for everyone. We have camped here many times over the years. The trails are fun to walk to the Falls.
Okay for a park I have never heard of in my 66 years.WOW!!! This park has a lot of wow for this neck of the woods. Lots of hiking..even a few waterfalls!!! We had a lovely time but when they say the trail is rugged.. they mean RUGGED and not for children under 8!!! But great views and so worth it!
We had a spectacular weekend! Let some nice people. We stayed at The Inn at Fall Creek Falls, it was basic accommodations, a little behind on technology and no microwave or mini fridge in room. Other than that it was nice and very clean. We were there to see a show at Bluegrass Underground. That was awesome and the venue was a cave! Truly amazing! The state park has a beautiful lake and gorgeous waterfalls!
this was absolutely the most beautiful state park I have EVER been to. it is very large, well kept, easy to follow, and had a lot of accommodating features like the general store, outfitter store, snack bar, etc. My mom and I stayed on the campsite and it was nice as well. the bathrooms were kind of in shambles, but there was a sign on the wall that said they're in the process of fixing it so no worries there. I would give this place 5/5 stars if their employees were actually friendly. We experienced horrible customer service at the pool side snack bar, which is run by two 16-17 year old girls (where are the adults here?) with terrible attitudes. We came to the snack bar at 8am right as they opened on the morning of October 1st, and were "greeted" with attitude right away. they made us feel like we were bothering them by being there. my mom asked them what time the main trail to the falls opened, and one girl seriously rolled her eyes, shrugged, and said "I don't know". another said they opened at 10am (which isn't true at all?). when my mom then called the front check in office to ask what time they opened, the lady on the phone said "sunrise". well, considering it was 8am and we had just been there and the gates were closed, that's not true either. when my mom explained that the gates were still shut, the lady on the phone said "well then I guess they haven't gotten around to opening the gate yet". What? what kind of customer service is that? if I had treated anyone that way at my job I would be fired on the spot. The only nice employee we came across here was the gentleman who owned/ran the general store. He had opened early on the morning that we came in and he was so nice. I've read other reviews that people have had issues with employees heremaybe y'all need to give all of your employees a class in customer service skills. overall, we had a fantastic weekend here and will definitely be back. I would just like to not be felt like I'm bothering an employee when asking for help or just simply coming in to their establishment.
There is a hotel and cabins on the lake and a campground. The hotel on the lake is comfortable and has a beautiful view of the lake. There is a pool and pier for fishing. The park rents boats and kayaks and has a guided boat tour of the lake. There are amazing waterfalls to hike to and swim in, a suspended bridge, a gorge with small rock caves to climb and jump in the water from and bike trails. The cable hike is a bit difficult but worth it. There is an interpretive center and gift store at the beginning of one of the hikes and a picnic area/playground with restrooms across the street. There is a zip line adventure through the trees, another large pool, store and laundry mat. We enjoyed the rhododendrons, deer and fireflies at dusk.
We had never heard of this park until I started looking for somewhere to go during spring break that wasn't anywhere near Pigeon Forge. We were surprised how great this place was. The trails are awesome and they rent canoes and kayaks. There are several different waterfalls along different trails. There's also a treetop adventure course that has routes for all skill levels, but reservations are recommended. It was sold out the day we tried to go, so we had to make a reservation for the following day.
This is my favorite Hangout. I go here to relax and a waterfalls always those does the trick. The park is free to get in. Also they have an all-you-can-eat buffet with the food is always great and is a very good price. They have breakfast lunch and dinner. Also the park offers camping and they have zip lines and you can swim in a couple of the falls
This review will not be based on aesthetics and park amenities as such things are standard amongst other TN and VA state parks. With that being said, Fall Creek Falls would have easily claimed five stars if not for the suspect customer service rendered during my recent stay.
To ellaborate, my significant other and I were met with very unprofessional customer service at check-in. The young staff member behind the desk seemed bothered by our presence and provided very curt, almost condescending, answers to our questions. I would like to compliment the other park staff we encountered as they were friendly and professional, but this first impression put a lasting sour taste in my mouth.
Other than that, the only reason I dropped the park to 3 stars is the firewood we purchased at the campground check-in would absolutely not burn. Upon splitting, the wood provided was very damp. Whether this is a supplier or park problem, I cannot say, but I have never experienced this problem at any other VA/TN state park. I ended up purchasing a bundle from the on-site general store and it burned just fine. This is apparently a common problem at the park, so BUY YOUR FIREWOOD FROM THE GENERAL STORE!!
Overall, this is a gorgeous park with great amenities, and I would recommend anyone to visit. I can only hope the issues I encountered are the exception and not the norm.
It's 2hours drive from Nashville and a great place for hiking. You can do swimming near waterfall too. Very beautiful place to visit! But there is only one place near for lunch which was Gaul's gallery restaurant in a stay in hotel called fall creek falls state park Inn and conference center which served nice food at low rates, They served us lunch even at 3pm, staff was really good. Overall a good experience!
My favorite place to camp in Tennessee. Very good campgrounds with good bathroom / shower facilities. We tent camp and every campsite we've chosen has been shaded and flat. If you tent camp, you do need to be careful when choosing a site. Walking around and looking at them, we saw probably about 5% that had no suitable location for a tent (although they would have been fine for hammocks). There are several very good, short, scenic hikes. There are also at least two "wild" locations to swim, and if you don't like swimming in a creek, there is a pool available (for a charge).
