Fairlea Animal Hospital ranks as the very best. The veterinarians are excellent and kind. All the techs and support staff are professional and caring -- about the animals and their people! And I've noticed little if any turnover of staff in the 3 years I've had my dog vaccinated, examined, treated and boarded while I've been away. I've owned a number of dogs and cats through the years. As our family moved, I have had occasion to seek the services of veterinarians in a number of states. Fairlea Animal Hospital ranks at the top of the list of all of the good veterinarians who have cared for my dogs and cats.

While staying at our seasonal cabin, we experienced an emergency situation with our fourteen week old Jack Russell Terrier puppy. We went to Fairlea Animal Hospital. From the moment we walked through the door, we had a positive experience. Although we did not have an appointment, the front office person was warm, welcoming and accommodating. Once in the exam room, the technician took the history and helped to allay our fears. When Dr. Tomlinson came in the room, he performed a thorough examination and then explained to us what was wrong and outlined a treatment plan. All the while, he reassured us and made sure we felt welcome there. I am a retired Veterinary Practice Manager with over thirty years experience in the veterinary field. I have nothing but praise for the kindness, compassion, quality of care and professionalism of the staff of Fairlea Animal Hospital.

We were visiting area with our Brittany when he got sick. Called for an appointment which they gave me within the hour. Staff courteous and friendly. Finley was much improved in 24 hours and back to normal within a few days. Very thankful to have him well cared for!

Always made to feel like Dr, Allie M. Hinson and staff truly care about the health of my dog. Exceptional service.
When I took my dog Troubles in It had been a while since I could give him the proper care that he needed. He had several rectal tumors related to not being neutered. They biopsied, neutered, cleaned his teeth, extracted 2 teeth.in 1 procedure for a fair amount of money. Now Troubles is fully recovered & his benign Tumors have shrank considerably. Now I feel like my 12-14 yr. old dog will possibly have a couple more quality years.

They may be good, but I had a really poor experience. It is sad for me to leave this review. My dog has been part of my family for nearly a decade, this stuff can get personal.

We went through lots of expensive tests, but rarely received good insight against the results. For the same condition, we were generally getting blood work annually from our previous vet. With this vet after about the 3rd or 4th consecutive blood work in as many months (at $200+, maybe $300?) I gave up and stopped going when they scheduled another appointment for blood work.

This last blood work, they didn't even tell us what it was for, the front desk scheduled the appointment after talking to the vet. No word to us other than come take another blood test. The last several round had the same results.

The also referred me for an ultrasound in at Virginia Tech, but never went over the results with me. That was a expensive trip several hours away and I'm not even sure they went over the results on their own.

The doctor would also always talk to me using technical jargon (specific enzymes, potential conditions, etc). He was always brief and using lots of this jargon that I had no way of understanding. He never offered lay terms or explainations. Sometimes I would ask. Usually, I would have to write terms down as I could so I could research what he was talking about myself. Personally, I feel this is very unprofessional and terrible bedside manners for a doctor.

I feel my dog was not getting the attention he needed for his particular situation (elevated liver enzymes with a liver operation in his early history). It seemed the doctor either didn't pay attention (maybe too busy?), was disorganized, was not communicating well with me, or had no real buy in to my pets health? It basically felt like he would just see me when I came in and briefly reviewed notes before hand.

I'm not sure what the underlying issue is with this clinic around the experience we had. Regardless, the service was essentially a lot of diagnostic work which was expensive and the feedback (diagnosis, prognosis, and never actually arrived at a treatment plan) seemed to be below what we've received from our last two vets where we shelled out much less over a period of time.

I have lived in 7 different states and had multiple vets. Fairlea Animal hospital is AWESOME! The staff truly care and the doctors are 100% accessible. We live on a small farmstead and we have a plethora of animals. Doc Tomlinson and his entire staff are absolutely invaluable to us. They are very responsive and treat us and our animals like friends. Doc is also very instrumental in our regional 4H program.

This is the first business review I have ever felt compelled to write. I recently moved to Lewisburg from out of state, leaving behind a vet office I loved and had been seeing for decades, and certain I would never find one of the same quality anywhere else for my dog and cats.

Because I chose Fairlea Animal Hospital largely based on online reviews I wanted to share my honest opinion for others in a similar situation. Shortly after moving, my cat became suddenly and seriously ill. I found vet offices in the area with the best reviews and decided to take whichever would get me the quickest appointment. I called Fairlea first, explained what was happening, and they fit me in for an appointment within a few hours.

First general impressions: their receptionists were all very kind and informative, the building is welcoming and well kept inside and out with a lovely and large fenced outdoor area for boarded dogs to run. I was only in the waiting area a few minutes before being seen. My cat ended up having to stay, collectively, almost two weeks as it took a battery of tests and creative problem solving to determine what was really going on.

During that time, I interacted with each of the three vets on staff. Each one seemed very familiar with my cat's condition and was able to communicate with me about any updates. They called regularly to keep me informed. At multiple points, they provided me with clear and itemized cost estimates for my cat's care as well as explanations about why they thought a specific treatment was best. They were very upfront about it when they weren't certain what exactly my cat's condition was and spent ample time with me discussing different possibilities for what could be tried, and also continued investigating the issue thoroughly - while also making it clear to me that they understood the fact that I was on a very limited budget. They helped me make balanced decisions between their best recommendations for how to treat my cat without pushing unnecessary or preemptive treatments. Ultimately, through consultations they made with other vets in different parts of the state, they determined the correct diagnosis: an extremely rare acute condition with a very simple but specific treatment. My cat went from the brink to making a full recovery.

Their followup was excellent, their communication was excellent, their compassion and genuine investment in me and my financial limitations and the wellbeing of my cat was astonishing. I cannot believe that I found a vet clinic that I now believe is, possibly, superior to the one I left back home. I have recommended Fairlea enthusiastically and without hesitation to everyone I know with animals. So far, two others have started going and have been equally impressed.

I understand that it is impossible for all people to be equally pleased all the time. All I can speak to is my experience. And I give them a resounding, unequivocal, and well-deserved A+. Thank you so much, Fairlea. Keep up the amazing work.
