Absolutely wonderful and amazing environment, service and food at this place we try to go here a couple times a year. Its a 2 hour drive but it is definitely worth the drive. A++++++ all around!!!!
Reasonable rates, Very classy and comfortable, Wi-Fi slow and could use an upgrade.. however, everything else top of the line..
It was an excellent, cozy room, with a nice view of the fountain and bridge that were out front. It was also just a very short walk away from all the shops, restaurant with delicious food, bakery and a theater. We were provided with complimentary breakfast and had a nice indoor swimming pool, hot tub and game room to keep us occupied. The employees were all very friendly and took great care of us!
Best rooms ever. Makes you feel right at home
Overall good experience. No major flaws. Room was clean, staff was friendly, and grounds are nice.
We were recently at the Essenhaus for a reunion. It was ok. The rooms are dated, so much so that my son asked if we were in a nursing home. We chose to have the dinner at the Inn instead of the restaurant that was a mistake. It was not the same experience. Yes, we did have a private room but we had to pay extra for it. You do not get to chose your pie nor is the popular peanut butter spread or soft drinks included. We even thought the food was better at the restaurant, even tho we were told it was the same. Pluses: Staff was friendly and efficient and it is very family friendly. The grounds are beautiful.
My family had a reunion here and I couldn't have asked for a more curtious and willing to help staff. Rooms are great, obviously excellent food and we all Loved all of the areas inside and on the grounds to be able to get together and relax an talk.I will be coming back again. Thank you for having us all!!!!
Love it here. been coming here for years! :)
A very well managed and equipped hotel. The décor had a great deal of attention applied to it. The whole property was clean and excellent service was provided. A pool/hot tub/kiddie pool area is on the property as well as a well equipped game room and fitness center. The beds seemed comfortable to me, but a bit overly firm for my wife's taste. The breakfast provided was adequate, but not exceptional. Complimentary local newspapers are provided. A very nice place to stay near Shipshewana, and even a reasonable distance from South Bend if looking to go to Notre Dame. Please note that the property is both tobacco and alcohol free.
Our group travel from Canada annually to stay here! We have checked other places but none can compare!
The common atrium area is great for getting together for games of checkers, cards etc. the inn has home baked cookies daily for the lobby or the atrium, and of course tea, coffee or hot chocolate are readily available 24 hours! Each room has a refrigerator! I can't say enough about the staff.. They go above and beyond! KUDOS!
Great service. Clean and comfy rooms. The pool area is really nice as well. Right next to the restaurant, which has amazing food.
What an amazing place! Had an opportunity to DJ/MC a wedding there and loved the place. The ambiance is a combination of modern and old time Amish. I was given a tour of the rooms and can't wait to take my wife back and spend some time there. The manager, Shannon, was friendly, helpful and made my stay awesome. The restaurant is the biggest in Indiana serving incredible comfort, family food. Don't miss this Indiana gem!
