The parking lot is really small and it can be tough to get in and out of this place as it's on a very busy road and others are always trying to get in and out at the same time. The staff seem very friendly and helpful though. It's small so not always the best selection of cars and they can run out too, so book it in advance!
We have rented from the Enterprise Hackettstown, NJ location twice before. Our experience this time was good, but not perfect. The class of vehicle we had reserved was not available due to the vehicle having been assigned to us arriving back from the previous renter damaged. We were then upgraded to a minivan at no additional cost. This was okay. Despite the reduced gas mileage we expected from this vehicle on our 1200 mile planned trip, the additional space of the minivan was handy. The downside of the rental was that Hackettstown Enterprise's built-in commercial vacuum cleaner in their service bay was broken and we had to take the minivan with cracker bits and cookie crumbs all over the minivan's back seat and floor areas. We had to vacuum the vehicle interior ourselves because we knew we would have passengers dressed in good clothing riding with us once we reached our destination. We were compensated for the dirty interior by Enterprise waiving the requirement to return the vehicle with the same amount of gasoline that existed at the beginning of the rental period. This compensation amounted to about $8 savings (or payment to us) for our having to vacuum our own rental vehicle. The lesson for Enterprise: Equip your rental locations with backup vacuum cleaners, even if they have to be a cheapie $60 shop-vac from the local home improvement big box store. All in all, Enterprise is okay and competitively priced. Will rent from Hackettstown Enterprise again when the occasion arises.
Asked for a compact and they delivered a giant pick up at 3x the cost.

We got stuck in traffic and called ahead to let them know we would be 5 minutes late. As we were knocking on the door. The employee pulled out of the back and took off without saying a word. Very unprofessional.
I have been using Enterprise for the past 6 months renting atleast once a month. The staff is very polite and helpful. I will only use them for my car rental needs.
car was a stinking, stained, horrible mess. There was a sticker with a cigarette and a red line through it displayed on the dash clearly indicating a no smoking vehicle HOWEVER the previous drivers ignored the sticker and smoked their lungs out leaving me to drive a stale ashtray for 5 days. I'm severely asthmatic and had to have the interior of the car cleaned as the leftover cigarette residue had an adverse affect on my breathing.
All the seats were so stained I had to sit on a towel because I wasn't sure if my clothes would be stained from sitting on the upholstery AND I didn't know exactly what I was sitting on anyway... My children flat out refused to ride in the car because of the smell and the condition of the seats.
The car was given to me with a half tank of gas. I thought it should be full but whatever...
Lastly, I was charged a $50 deposit when I rented the vehicle which I was told would be refunded upon its return. I returned the car with a FULL tank of gas despite picking it up with only 1/2 tank, it was cleaner than it was when it was given to me, and there was zero damage. I asked the sales person if we were square and had him confirm no additional charges, and that my $50 would be refunded. He confirmed both so I thanked him and left.
Not only was my $50 NOT refunded, I was charged an additional $40.89 for a "damage waiver" even after being told NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES would be applied. Essentially I wound up paying $90.89 "just in case" something happened to the car while I was driving it. Well clearly the car WAS NOT damaged when I returned it, so I called to see if that fee could be waived and they would not accomodate. Done... will not be renting from Enterprise again.
Amanda is awesome as well as Jacqueline. Thanks for the speedy in and out of your office. Only regret was the insurance cards had expired last month. My 2nd rental in three wks and both were same expired cards. Service is great, just update those cards for your customers. :-)
