Friends, a quick Elliott update. A big thank you goes out to my friend Terry Hatfield for donating his time and his truck and trailer Saturday to haul away debris from the former HR Block office space. Yes, the space that caught fire during Octoberfest.
We spent the afternoon filling the trailer to haul to my farm only to get stuck in the woods. Glad I have a big tractor!
Something fun in store for that space in the Spring....involves the making of adult beverages....more inf...o to come! Have a great week everyone! DK
See MoreA little something for all the nay-sayers out there......and there are many! You know who you are... Here’s to 2019! DK
Hello friends of the Elliott Hotel page....I have not posted for awhile so here is a brief update.
I have gone as far as I can with the interior clean out, now the time has come to spend serious monies on the project. Even though I have spent thousands of dollars and many hours of time, the exterior although better than it was when I found it, still looks bad.
I have met with a large bank and I am working on financing for the project. I still want to open it back up as a hote...l. Looks like 15-16 rooms, a small micro-brewery, large event space, and a retail storefront. The goal is to be open in the 4th quarter of 2020.
I have recently purchased the next section of the original hotel block. I will close on that section in Early January. The project is still alive, just moving slow.
Thanks to all for your early support, both moral and financial. I really want this project to become reality for me and the village of Greenfield.
Merry Christmas to all!!!

See MoreHello Greenfielders! The Elliott Hotel lobby will be open this evening during G3 Oktoberfest. We will also have free samples of The Elliott Brewing Company’s first hard cider. We have named it “Devlin” cider, and it was made using local “Karnes Orchard” apples. Stop by and have a sip!!!
Scraping a little paint on the front windows today.....this little girl wandered into the lobby. I think she lives in the basement. She fell asleep in the sun at the front door. I'm naming her....."Elli" Get it? I hope her momma is close by. Nice to have my first official resident!! DK
Hello Friends.
The circa 1965 wall sign had to come down today. It was one average wind gust from falling to the sidewalk as two stay cables were snapped and everything else holding to the wall were rusted and ready to go.
I will attempt to restore this sign and re-install.....however it may be cost prohibitive. That is the goal though!
...One more small piece of a 1,000 piece puzzle.

See MoreLast post today....I promise!
On the Washington Street facade, I have discovered some non-original brick. If you look very close, the brick painted in faded yellow and light blue is original from 1888, painted in 1996. The dark red brick around the door and on the 45 corner was added, likely around the time the porch over the sidewalk was built. In fact, the entire corner window bay is not original, but added at a later time
...I have to decide whether to keep or remove these sections in the final Reno.....
Thoughts?

See MoreOk....the old wood-framed fake gable is gone. One more off the checklist. The old sign needs to come down very soon...it's gonna get refurbished and re-installed down the line.
Thanks everyone for the likes and comments. I'm trying to move this project forward!
I have the future hotel design drWings hanging in the corner window for all to see. Swing by and take a look! Look forward to feedback from those drawings too!

See MoreGood afternoon all. Recent Facebook chatter declared that have taken all of my financial donations.....and ran away. Not true...I have used all donations to get the Elliott cleaned out inside as far as I can. I am still working on the project. I am tearing off the out of character wood false-front door today. Had to stop due to rain storm, but I hope to continue after the rain. Come down to the lobby and say hi! I have cold beer! DK
Hello Greenfielders! The crappy old furniture stacked in back of the Elliott was removed today. While handling the stuff, another pill bottle fell out. This one was different than all the other bottles I have found. I actually kept the contents.
12 cents inside. The hotel is starting to payoff already!!!!
I will unveil the Hotel design during the Festival in July!
...Take care all.

See MoreHello Greenfielders! Now that I am a Highland County resident again, I am going to move a little quicker on the Elliott renovation. Today I spent time tidying up some weeds and grass on the outside. I could use a favor...... Is there anyone who could remove the 4 pieces of furniture currently residing under the steel stairs in the back of the hotel? I do not have a truck, and I am not renting another big dumpster for awhile. Please let me know...I might even pay a little if n...ecessary. Feel free to share around!!! Thanks, DK
See MoreHello Friends! Does anyone have one of those 10x10 easy pop-up canopy tents that I can use for the party Friday night at the Elliott??? I would like to have one at the front door and one at the side door in case of rain. Let me know if I can borrow one or two. I will be at the Elliott all day Friday 12/22 decorating and prepping for the party. Stop by and drop it off during the day. I would appreciate it very much!!! Thanks, DK
Hello Greenfielders! The Eve Eve Eve bash is on!!! DJ is ready with playlists.....Beer samples from the planned Elliott Hotel Brewing Company...Raffle Prizes (Beer Related)....Pizza at 11......Might go past Midnight....Plan to join us this coming Friday at the Elliott!!!! DK
Hello Greenfielders!
I am considering a small fund-raiser to benefit the Elliott Renovations. I am thinking a rock-n-roll party on Friday night 12/22 from 9p-1a at the Elliott Hotel lobby.
I would find a live band to play and it would be "BYOB" and "lawn chair". I have lights and power, maybe a little heat. I'm thinking $10 per person. I might even rent a porta-john for the night. Also might get a local establishment to sell food/pizza!
...Think about this idea and let me hear some feedback. good idea, good date, bad date, etc. Thanks all! DK
See MoreHello Greenfielders....Anyone intersted in helping me demolish the interior of the rear apartment at the Elliott Hotel, come on by this Friday between 9am-5pm and swing the hammer and work off some of that Thanksgiving feast with me!!!
I will have much junk and debris to remove from the floors, walls and ceilings, along with a little weed-wacking and grass scraping needed. I will have a large dumpster that needs to be filled.
I will buy a Pizza lunch and drinks for the fol...ks who come to assist.
I also plan to throw a big apartment-opening party in the Spring, so please come over and say hi, or help, or just give moral support.
I will be back at it Saturday morning too, if that is better timing. I am stopping at noon though, to watch the OSU-Stinkigan game somewhere.
Thanks all. I hope to see you at the Elliott, even if it is just for a couple of hours.

See MoreHello Greenfielders! I am looking for assistants to help me at the Elliott Hotel next weekend. Friday 11/24 and Saturday 11/25 I will be demolishing the interior of the rear first floor apartment. I will have a large construction dumpster on Mirabeau Street to fill with all the debris. There are 2 couches, two mattresses, some old kicthen cabinets and misc junk to throw in the dumpster. I am going to rip out the plaster ceilings, remove a couple of door infills, open up ...a couple of windows that are boxed in, pry up old wood flooring and tht all goes into the dumpster. Outside, a weed eater and some loppers can be utilized to get rid of the weeds and old grass in the back.
If anyone has a little time next weekend and would like to tear up am old building, Ithe Elliott is the place to be. Bring a hammer, some gloves, a wheel barrow, anything you think might help.
I will buy some food from a local restaurant or two for folks and have music playing too.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH to anyone who can come by and help even for an hour or two.
I will send a note out again on Sunday and Tuesday. Happy thanksgiving everyone.

See MoreHello Greenfielders! Been awhile since I've posted to my page. The partial collapse that occured in the Summer seems to have stabilized a little so no additional damage. I have been able to slow down the water intrusion itnto the lobby and the interior wall demolition up in the lobby is about 95% complete.
There are plans to move forward with renovations. I will be renovating the first floor rear apartment between now and April, 2018 for me to use a residence. The remain...der of the first floor will be designed to house a new micro-brewery and event center. The second floor will become a boutique hotel.
I just wanted all of you to know that activity slowed but planning has not. I look forward to posting updates as they happen. Next step is major interior demolition in the rear first floor apartment space Thanksgiving break Wed-Sun. Anyone who is around and has some spare time on Friday or Saturday to help out, I would appreciate it very much. I will order food from the local businesses for everyone who helps.
Take care everyone!!!

See MoreHello Greenfielders! I will be working at the Elliott this coming weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Stop by to say hello or maybe lend a hand. This time the tasks include weed eater duty behind the hotel, blowing the sidewalks clean, one more interior lobby wall coming down and digging out the interior courtyard between the buildings. There is 6" or so of dirt in there from 50 years of being sealed off, and it must come out to reveal the original concrete sidewalk. Bring ...a shovel and drop off your wheelbarrow if you are not using it.
On another note...Key Chains!!! Thank you to all who purchased a key tag, and especially those who purchased more than one. My number reservation system was not 100% fool-proof so some folks did not get the number they asked for...and I apologize for that. I have the following reserved numbers still in my possession and I will have them with me this weekend if anyone wants to swing by the Elliott.
2 - Kandi Adams 4 - Trina Strevel 8 - Gary Mick 18 - Merleen Van Dyke 21 - Emily Huffer 29 - Debbie Hollar Stewart 30 - Kay Raymond Harris 32/67 - Mark Branham 66/100 - Tim Jackman 36 - Cindy Orebaugh 47/62 - Jenny Nolan Calhoun 78 - Lynny Lucas McCray
Numbers still available are: 82, 91, 94, 95, 105, 119, 124, 125, 126-150, 84 (x14), 2,2,2,2,4,4,5,5...... Let me know if anyone wants to get one that did not already, or if you would like another. All proceeds are going to toward the Elliott renovation project.
Thanks, see you over Labor Day Weekend!!!
