Hello,
My name is Joel Martinez. I was born in Cuba, but I am living in Miami, Florida.
I had been working in aviation for ten years; I am part of a team that inspects the quality of materials, parts, and units used to repair aircraft.
To compensate the stress of my job, I decided to find a hobby that makes me to relax and to enjoy time by myself.
While researching for options to compensate my stress at work, on the Internet, I found some beautiful art pieces made with "Gourds," the love that these artists reflected on these pieces got me into it.
I started buying some tools, some Gourds, looked for what inspires me and started.
When inspiration came, and my work started then the noise of my rotary tool began to annoy the people around me so one day I decided to keep looking for another hobby, something quieter. That was the moment I met Polymer Clay, my inspiration savior.
Polymer Clay was the right prescription, so I started by enjoying the work of those I call Masters.
The beginning was just fascinating. I seemed incredible that such a simple material could achieve such beautiful and different creations.
I fell in love with the color scheme of Melanie West, the amazing intricate patterns of Sarah Shriver, the elegance of the work of Melanie Muir, Dan Cormier & Tracy Holmes's templates and other artists which spent years creating art by using this material.
I continue learning new techniques to improve my pieces. I believe there is always something new to learn and much to practice to achieve the best result and a better quality work.
In addition to all the above, I am glad my family is happy with this project, not only because they no longer need to hear the noisy tools but they also love my creations.

My mother is my number one fan and my muse, in her honor I named to my shop "DODESE"; formed by first syllables of her full name.
At this time my work with Polymer clay is just a Part-time job, and I love it. I will continue creating and frequently placing new pieces in my store for you; I hope you like my work like my family does and I do.
