My husband, two year old son and I went to DISH around 6:00pm this past Saturday and had our pick of the seats. Table clothes, soft lighting and wood floors were very pretty.
Being our first time there, we asked the waitress, Lee, for her guidance. She was soooo helpful and patient in explaining everything.
We ordered 3 plates for the three of us to share: a 3 cheese plate, beef cheeks, Scallops and cold beer! The beer, the food, the service and the whole dining experience was AMAZING! We were too stuffed to have dessert, so when we go back, we will order two plates and a dessert to share. This is definitely one of our new favorite spots !!!
Awesome staff! The best!
My old neighbor owns this resteraunt, great family! Food is delicious ! Must go to if you're travelling through the burg!
Sometimes it's the little things that make the difference. In the case of Dish, it was a lot of little things. When we arrived, there was a "closed" sign in the window, so we started to leave, but a person sitting outside said he had seen people go in. It turned out they were open, but had forgotten to change the sign. That was a sign of things to come, including wait staff that did not know ingredients of the food they were serving and serving us a dish we did not order. All that aside, the food was delicious. I had a duck confit special that came with an Asian salad and kimchee, some fried oysters with a bacon marmalade, and a spicy chili cauliflower dish. The latter was my favorite. The wine list is extensive. I would probably go back, since the food was that good.
Best food in town, for sure.
We went around 7:30 on a Saturday and the restaurant was practically deserted. The atmosphere was interesting; it's as though they haven't decided what genre to fall under as a business. My only prior knowledge of Dish was as the "club" of Main Street on weekends, but walking in for dinner, it felt like an upscale restaurant. The artwork was unique, mismatched, maybe local stuff?
The menu was confusing until the waitress explained it to us. (It was our first experience with tapas.) She suggested we order six small plates. The three of us ended up deciding on five small plates, two cheeses with crostinis and accoutrements, and french fries with truffle oil.
Oh. My. God. The food was phenomenal. The pairing of flavours, the presentation, the colours On top of that, the staff was wonderful in answering questions and making suggestions, refilling drinks, and checking up on us at the appropriate times.
It is expensive, but I would eat there every night if I could. The entire experience was exceptional.
Haven't eaten here but AWSOME DJ's on the weekend. Just bring your own girls to dance with. :)
Great tapas place, great wine, and the best basil monitor I've had made by Gavin!
I'm not from the area so I don't know how Dish compares to other restaurants in the area but for me it was just okay. I love small plates and some of the dishes were good and some were not very exciting. Service was good and food came out quick while we were there on a weekday. Overall, I would try it if you're in the area and want small plates but I wouldn't go back again.
Three visits and three hits. The first two visits we had the dinner selections and the third was the small plates. I prefer the dinners. In this area the birth of a BoJangles is referred to as "the opening of a new restaurant," Dish is one of the best three or four places in Lynchburg where a person can get a real meal. The filet of beef was one of the best I've ever had and the portion was huge, in all honesty, perhaps not always so. It's hard to make a pasta dish outstanding but theirs was. When I eat out I want to have a WOW! moment and Dish does not disappoint. The place is quaint, not fancy, and service is deferential and polite if not speedy. But when eating one of the best meals in the city who wants to rush?
We are long time residents who frequently eat out. Currently, the best meal in Lynchburg. Intimate atmosphere and attentive wait staff.
Best in the burg. Oysters are out of this world. We don't bother with anywhere else when we want to wine and dine in the burg.
