  Tried to rent a hobie cat three separate times over two years with this place. Each time, dealt with the same guy who I can only assume really really really does not want to lift a finger while sitting in his throne in the shaded hut. His excuses to not rent one ranged from it’s too windy (it was not), it was too late (it was noon), credit card machine broken (I offered cash) and he didn’t know how to rig it (when I offered to do it). Not only that, his entire attitude was that of someone who hates tourists, which appear to be critical to his business model.

  Great time today with Delray Beach Water Sports kayaking, snorkeling at the SS Inchulva, and finally sailing. Out kayak capsized, and Delray Beach Water Sports was faster than the local lifeguard in reaching us to assist (we appreciated both assists!)!

  Buyer beware. Brian rented my 7yo a skim board. 5 mins later the Delray lifeguard came down to my kids and said there's no skim boarding on Delray beaches; town ordinance because kids broke their necks doing it in the past. Lifeguard said the rule has been on the books for the past 9 years they've worked there.
  
  When I asked Brian about i the rule he said he had no idea of the rule. (Seems unlikely if the lifeguard is right about 9 yrs) He offered other equipment, but we already had boogie boards and the surf on the beach wasn't big enough to push a board anyway. He had no other gear we were interested in. I told him I'd like a refund.
  
  First he tried to tell me that he didn't know how to give a refund and I called him on it. Then he agreed the it's not policy to give refunds. It seems pretty irresponsible to rent gear to kids that they can't use.
  
  In addition, shop was shady, hobie cats were poorly maintained (rips in the tarp and a broken rudder) and nothing was rigged even though winds were 10-15kt.
  
  Would not recommend, guy seems sketchy.

  1 star is over rated! They had many excuses to not rent. I’m visiting Monday- Friday.
  Go by on Monday; guy with minimal knowledge says “Monday & Tuesday we repair our boats”…Go back on Wednesday; forecast SSW it was a slight west wind till 9:30am then SSE. winds were onshore all day….”perfect sailing conditions” we don’t have a rescue boat… then when pressed, “uh… I’ve only rigged a 14’ “ REALLY …please tell me the difference between rigging a 14 & 16 hobie?
  My 7 yr old grandson had better communication skills than this beach veggie behind the counter. Albert you need to upgrade your staff, very sad, why lead me on like you want to rent a boat. I had shared my experience with you, owned and raced Hobies and just wanted to take a friend sailing! Big waste of time.

  I contacted Albert ahead of my friend's bachelorette party to plan an afternoon at the beach. Albert went above and beyond, not only renting us chairs and umbrellas and snorkel gear, but also setting us up with a huge cooler and offering to help us get food and drinks delivered to the beach. He was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
