Before becoming a successful multi-national business, DAX’s humble beginnings took place in a modest garage in Brooklyn, New York. Herman Bley, escaped the horrors of Nazi-occupied concentration camps to start a new life for himself in America. Upon his arrival, Bley began working for an enthusiastic Dr. Dax stocking the shelves in Dax’s pharmacy, and co-brewing pomades with Dax in his residential garage. Thankful for the opportunity, Bley taught himself American-English so he could communicate with customers and produce pomades that lived up to customer standards. Soon the demand for this new pomade began to soar as its popularity began to creep through Brooklyn neighborhoods. As time passed, Dr. Dax was unable to continue running his pharmacy and keep up with the rising demands of his pomade. Then, in 1954 Dax had sold his pomade business and brew formulas to Bley, who continued to produce the popular hair dressings. After investing time, money, and energy into his new home-brew business Herman’s efforts began to show. Over sixty years later, using the original formulas for our hair dressings Imperial DAX has become an iconic staple in the hair care industry. Through company integrity, quality assurance, and our ability to exceed the industry’s demands DAX is a reputable brand with the trust of people on five continents.
