Description

CrossingPoints is a two-tier postsecondary transition program on the campus of The University of Alabama. CrossingPoints is funded in part by a 5-year grant by the Office of Postsecondary Programs of the US Department of Education and supported primarily the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa City Schools, Tuscaloosa County School System, and the Community of Tuscaloosa. CrossingPoints Tier 1 is a collaboration between The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa City Schools, and Tuscaloosa County School System. Tier 1 serves students with significant disabilities ages 18-21 years who are still receiving IDEA services. Tier 1 follows the Tuscaloosa City Schools and Tuscaloosa County school systems' Academic year calendar. CrossingPoints Tier 2, also known as the Summer Bridge Program, is a postsecondary pipeline program for college-age students with intellectual disabilities ages 18+ years from anywhere in the State of Alabama and beyond. For more information about each Tier of the CrossingPoints program, please go to our website.http://crossingpoints.ua.edu/

Job sites ended yesterday for the semester. We want to thank all of the supervisors and co-workers who work with our students three days a week to help them grow in their employment skills. CrossingPoints has one of the highest employment rates of people with disabilities upon graduation. This is due to the job sites we collaborate with and their dedication to our students. Thank you to Humane Society of West Alabama, The Ferguson Student Center, UA Recreation, Bama Dining, Bryant Conference Center, UA Campus Mail, University of Alabama Supply Store, Shear Bella Salon, McLure Education Library, and University of Alabama School of Music for serving as job sites this semester! We couldn't do what we do without YOU!

We won Best Float at the West Alabama Christmas Parade hosted by Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority! We had a blast participating in this event! πŸŽ…πŸ»πŸŽ„A special thanks to Mr. Dooley for his hard work of putting this float together with the students. And another big thanks to Jessica Helene Bowen for working with the students in forming the first ever color guard at CrossingPoints called Radiant. They performed alongside the float last night.
