Jeans 4 Justice” began in 1999 when a judge overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing jeans at the time of the assault. The judge said it was common knowledge that jeans can’t be forcibly removed. Global protests followed, and since then, thousands of people have worn jeans to work to help raise awareness of sexual assault.

Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment and Madison County Coordinated Community Response are asking willing artists to decorate and donate a pai...r of jeans or jeans-related art to be displayed or worn during a reception, where the community is invited to attend and vote for their favorite piece.

The top 3 selections will receive a certificate from the CCR, and the pieces will be auctioned off, at the artist’s consent, with proceeds going toward programs that promote sexual assault awareness in North Alabama.

This event will be filled with local music, snacks, and entertainment. Open to all ages!

Madison County Coordinated Community Response shows appreciation to Sergeant Christie Gover, with the Madison City Police Department, for presenting the RAD (Rape Agression Defense) class to the group.

The class is offered for free to women and girls age 10 and older and is a dynamic, hands-on instruction series, aimed at increasing awareness and self confidence for women and girls to keep themselves safe from attack.

La clase se ofrece de forma gratuita a mujeres y niñas de 10 años o más y es una serie de instrucciones prácticas y dinámicas, destinadas a aumentar la conciencia y la confianza en sí mismas para que las mujeres y las niñas se mantengan a salvo del ataque.
