The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program of St. Joseph County, Indiana supports and promotes court appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so that they can thrive in safe and permanent homes. Our local CASA Program recruits, screens, trains, supervises, and supports volunteers. Once volunteers are screened and trained by the our program, they are appointed by the court to advocate for children who enter the court system primarily as a result of alleged physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and/or neglect.Currently, there are over 1,000 children in St. Joseph County, Indiana that are in the system, and about 300 of them are served by about 100 CASAs. While our current CASAs do a remarkable job advocating in our community, our need for more volunteers is apparent.
