Coontail will rent you a bike or kayak, fill up your tank, and stock up your fridge, all in one stop. The bike store is small but has most of the essentials you might need. The location COULD NOT BE BETTER. Right in the heart of Boulder Junction, you are literally right on about 50 miles of really excellent very good outstanding paved bike trails that go from Manitowish Waters to Sayner and beyond. Pick up a trail map right there for a small donation to trail maintenance. My only complaint is that they wouldn't swap out SPD pedals when we wanted to rent mountain bikes. I get their reason, but since it's something many other bike stores have done for me in past travels I sort of expect it. Still, 4 stars, and a helpful, friendly, useful business in Boulder Junction.

We were a couple seniors looking for kayaks. staff at both boulder junction and arbor vitae were very helpful. the offer to take us out to lake for trial clinched the deal. Lisa knew what we needed and was great

I've loved frequenting this store and their market/convenience store for several years, plus their newer location in Arbor Vitae. The owners are super friendly, the staff is helpful, and the clothing is quality. I only wish they still sold Miss Me jeans! In July, they have a huge tent sale, and my whole family wins when we shop it. Boulder Junction is fortunate to have a store like Coontail!

Super nice & friendly staff. The prices are actually decent compared to other rural stores. The hours are typical for an up north place: close earlier than most places. But overall, a great place to go.

Coontail has been a staple in the beautiful town of Boulder Junction. They offer quality clothing and footwear for all sizes and fun lake toys (kayaks, tubes, etc.). Their snowshoe, cross country skis, kayak, bike and stand up paddle board rentals are a fantastic service for those wanting to get out and play in the northwoods all year long. I'll definitely be back.
