I wish I could give less than one star. People who are working at Indian consulate in New York are absolutely worst people. Was standing out side in cold they didn’t allowed us to sit stay inside. They take 4 hours of Lunch break after 4 hour lunch break they only open for 1 hour. Don’t answer any questions don’t process your documents. Another lady who was standing outside with us in 15 F windy weather. (Who had 6 month child with her). They didn’t even let that lady sit inside out of basic human decency.
Process of emergency visa, or emergency passport renewal are not done in timely manner. There is reason it’s called emergency passport or visa services. I applied for emergency passport. They did not respond for 20 days and don’t answer phone calls. Neither do they call back in time. When they do call back. They don’t have answers for anything. Absolutely ridiculous people who work there.
The Consul General of the Republic of India and his staff display the honor, pride, professionalism, customs and dedication of their country. India is blessed to have representatives who display the country's highest qualities.
India is the largest democracy in the world with a population of over 1.2 billion. India, is a true friend of the United States. If given the opportunity to visit for vacation or to do business with the various trades the country offers, you will find a people rich in talent, kindness and respect for others.
Now more than ever, it is vital to support and stand by our friends. May God continue to bless and enrich India .

I think Indian government should take some action against NY Indian Embassy for
Not providing trust worthy service to the applicants!
NY India Embassy don’t respond to the emails or phone calls and no updates for a month even after they received the application! What kind of service are they providing? People are not applying emergency visas for fun !! At least they should provide an update of the status of the application if they need any documents! It is totally dead process
The Indian Consulate here in NYC is really welcoming, with its staff working more than eagerly to help Indians feel like home in this country. They are equipped with basic printing and browsing needs - which indeed is very helpful. The waiting area may not be very spacious, but surely does not suffocate you. The officers are especially helpful in cases of older people.
Awesome staff. Everyone is compassionate and patient. They actually go above and beyond to accommodate elderly staff. I applaud each one of them .
Mr. Malik was super helpful. He was very courteous and patient. He helped us through the seamless process.
Thank you so much!!!
